Change Default Economy mode....
Hi everyone. So I have a 2011 c300 sport and I know that for the 2011 models at least mb switched the transmission modes from comfort and sport to economy and sport. Anyways I find economy actually less economical than sport due to the fact of having to really push down on the throttle just to get on the freeway or just change lanes. I find this annoying and I prefer sport mode but I find it annoying to have to click the little button every time. Is there a way just to keep it in sport when you start your car again..... Thanks I also find that sport also puts less strain on the engine.

I have a 2010 C300 Sport and it always starts in C-Comfrot mode?? Rather than Sport. I personally always thought C should have been for the luxury version and S for the sport version but I guess that would have taken to much money out of Mercedes hands to do it.
My old 2007 started in S rather than C, I do hate having to hit the little buttom every time so I have started to just leave it in C and call it a day.
Though I must say it shouldn't be IMPOSSIBLE to change it afterall it is software controlled. The question is what software is controlling it and how to change it.
Personally I don't notice much performance gain from C to S - I have been told on this forum and by dealer that if you hit the gas hard it will suspend C and go to S even though the dash doesn't indicate it does. SO you don't really lose performance. It just starts the shifts off in 2nd as opposed to first in S.

2008's and 2009's are able to start at whatever setting you last left it at. So if you let it in S mode, the car will start in S mode the next time you start your car. In 2010 and up, the default setting is C mode.

To be honest, it really isn't an issue. In fact, I think the car reacts to aggressive driving better in comfort or now referred to as "economy" mode. It seems much more willing to do a double downshift when you floor it to start above 4,000 rpm. Where as when in sport it seems more concerned with responsiveness and will hesitate to make that second downshift and so most of the time only starts at around 3,000 rpm when you floor it - not that impressive.
