W202 C230 Kompressor, W204 C200 CGI
K&N or BMC.
No big difference if not change mapping.

I read somewhere that the air filter inserts didn't fit right and can also cause issues like oil drip or something like that? I don't know but I was just wondering as well. Did you actually hear a difference when you were driving?

i can hear the air being sucked more when the car is idling and there is no fitment issue. EZ check the C63 thread they're talking about a NJ/NY meet.

Is there a good retailer for K&N replacements in the US?

I checked Ebay and google shopping and all that comes up are UK dealers.

Also at ~ $80 bucks, is that per insert?

i know you can get them at Pepboys or Autozone but if you want them ordered on the Internet you can look at Amazon.com. you need the part number. do a search here for the part number of the filter.

i searched the forums and this doesnt seem to be a particularly popular mod to drop the K&Ns in. Is the sound noticeable at all other than idling? Id like to have a more throaty sound if possible, not too interested in hp gains, but im hoping filters+x-pipe will get me there on the cheap. Still i noticed not many are using the k&n's for whatever reason

Unless you fabricate some sort of shielding you're likely to see a HP drop. The stock ram-air is pretty efficient and throwing it out is going to leave you sucking in all kinds of hot engine air. Of course, dyno performance, with the hood up, should be fine. (that's snark )

Sorry mate... atm my C200 is still stock. Still thinking option to either save up for the brabus B20S ecu kit (+41hp to 225hp) wait for kleeman when they make one for C200 (currently only C250 available) or trade the car in 2-3 years with C250 CGi.

with the exhaust, is there any gain figures or just pure sound+looks?

W202 C230 Kompressor, W204 C200 CGI
i have w202 C230 Kompressor. K&N filter can make MAF sensor very oily and lose function.
IMO, rather straight go for B20S.

they will give you no performance gains, just some sound difference under heavy throttle.

+1

There's a ******** on one of the other mercedes forums, calling his intake "cold air", when the big cone filter is right behind the radiator on his w203.
