If your car did not come with factory led tail lights, meaning no p2 package i believe, it will give you error message on your dash. I think you should take it to the dealer and tell them to use their star diagnostic machine to maybe turn on the led function if possible. I wanted led tails also but i remember reading somewhere on this forum that i would get error codes on my dash. If you somehow get the dealer to make it work please share the information.

You didn't read that since it isn't a fact. The factory lights with LED turn lights (NOT tail lights) simply plug in with no error codes.

It's the aftermarket lights from deepest China (or some place) that MAY activate the lamp out module. Some do, and some don't apparently.

The "LED present" change by the dealer refers to the headlights only.

Good idea since the LED lights are much more visible. You can get the LED units from any dealer but check around since "dealer retail" prices vary widely.

Or, you can buy the yellow LED Euro versions as I did from MBenzNL.com which are even more visible. Still plug and play.

By yellow, I assume you mean Amber.

I'm sorry if I missed this before, but would you mind posting a few pics of that tail lamp with different functions illuminated, please? I've seen the studies on the improved reaction times for amber signals, and won't give them up.

The turn lights whether LED or bulb are in the same location. The rest of the lights are not affected. I sold the OE LED units and that's the shipping box to California.

They look yellow to me, BTW.
