Thats exactly the place i have mine in but you should cover the ballast up with a thin styrofoam sheet (not exactly sure if its called that.) i had it uncovered before, and had to go thru 4 hid ballasts.. Its always the driverside ballast that went bad for me.. Went thru like 4 ballasts in like 8 months, and one of them was the expensive mtec.. after i put on the styrofoam sheet to somehow protect it from heat, didn't have a problem after that. since its so cramped up on the driver side, be careful it might get too hot also when the summer is really near.

I have mine there too. My driver side is acting a bit funny, but it seems sporatic and not heat related.

do you really need the styrofoam to protect the ballast? i would think the heat would melt through the styrofoam guessing that its just regualar old styrofoam or is it something else? im wanting to install aznoptics hids but dont wanna do it if leaving it unprotected from the heat might damage it....what to do!?!?

There's not that much heat off by the wheel arch so you should be fine.

Bringing this thread back alive. I am trying to install the ballast, but just can't find the right place for the driver side. I would really love to see the pic on this thread that mmike posted originally. Can anyone post the pic of theirs if they had mounted on the same place?
