DDM low beam kit exploded : )
I hit the ignition and i hear a loud *** pop like a firecracker went off and it turns out that the error canceller piece ****ing blew a hole and spewed out a ton of ****ing feathers and acid. It was just my luck though that the unit was pointed towards the OUTSIDE of the car and it spewed its guts on my garage and not inside the car. What the ****.

edit: gonna wait till ddm gets in contact with me first to see what they say, maybe it was a bad batch or something went wrong, ill update the thread when they do

How long did you have the kit in your car? I'm a little nervous now but hope maybe it was just a faulty product. Glad there was no damage to your car. My DDM kit has been in for about half a year now...

yes sir, followed the directions, its pretty idiot proof (have another kit installed on another car too, but no error cancellor required on other car), and upon ignition i hear the boom. It sounded like glass shattering so i thought the bulb exploded in the plastic casing it came in at first. feathery **** all over my garage now =/

I know, you are absolutely right. Thats the second thought i had, that i paid for a cheap chinese kit and it exploded, the first that i had was that i was incredibly lucky that it was aimed out the engine bay out of sheer dumb luck

Well honestly I think there are dozens of DDM HID kit users on MBW and this is the first time (or atleast the only one I recall) that I have heard there was an issue, especially one this extreme. I haven't had any complaints about my DDM kit so like I said earlier, I really hope it was just a faulty set. Unacceptable still, but it happens. Try to get a refund and go with another set. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me when I tried to hook up an HID kit I bought from a forum member and the error cancellor blew-up. It scared me so bad, I just went back to stock and purchased some Crystal Vision Halogens. I had an HID kit in my previous car (Mazda) and it worked fine. With the Benz, I can't take those chances anymore. At least until AZN put his on the market

Looks like the capacitor blew... which means it was installed backward (w/ the polarity reversed) when it was manufactured. I've never cracked one open, but IMO, error cancellors are nothing more than simple circuits to load-match the HIDs to what the car is expecting with normal 55W halogens.
Speaking of caps... remember way back when, when having huge 1 Farad caps were all the rage in the car audio industry to cure your problem of dashboard lights dimming every time a bass note hit on your 18" Pyle Drivers that were driven by your 1000W Crunch amp?

i thought its only me that's experiencing problems....
i was going to put a thread about the problems i had but i was lazy so...
ok so now here's the issues that i had:
After i put on the DDM hid kid (35w 6000k), light bulbs started to burn out like crazy....(not the hid buld, but all other light bulbs). I had both fog light bulb burnt out, eye lids, and rear lamp and break lamp bulb....
i dont know if that has anything to do with the ddm kit?
maybe the kit confuses the computer?????
does anyone have any idea on this issue???
btw, mine is a 2010 and only 15k miles on it...

ive installed a ton of these kits and have had a set in my motorcycle for about 3 years
and have yet to have a problem id ask them to send you another kit and doubt there will any hassle
bang for the buck the kits are pretty hard to beat. if u want to pay more for quality control than do it. in my experience they are a great kit and the support is great considering you can easily pay more for a set of standard halogens
