So I just bought the extended warranty end of last year (100k) for 2008 c-300.
Took the car in today because air condition and heat wouldnt blow air.

They said the warranty is voided because whoever replaced my windshield a year ago didnt put on a factory mercedes windshield.

Not only does the warranty not cover the air condition and heating, but if I were to pay to get both fixed at mercedes, left and something else were to go wrong they said my warranty could still be voided next time just because I dont have a factory mercedes windshield.

Pretty crazy, have no idea what to do.
Family have owned mercedes forever, 17 to be exact.

Sounds like maybe your blower motor has died ?

did they change the air intake screen for you during one of the scheduled services you had done, if not, maybe they are liable for the blown motor, if that is what has gone bad

don't know what's wrong with air. they said something about my windshield... how it's not a mercedes part and that water leaks down and that's what made air/heat not work.

to be on the FAIR side though, u did void part of your car's warrenty because u MUST install a genuine oem windshield and u installed a generic windshield instead.

it doesnt which i agree but i just pointed a side note that he DID void his warrenty at some point and cuz of that they are trying to mess with him now.

ok ok back online.
So far. I went back to benz after service was closed. talked to person who sells warranty etc... nothing really good came out except him saying find out who replaced the windshield.
he also said he'd like to know "if I do pay to get everything fixed if later they will trace back that other part (windshield) and keep voiding my warranty if anything else happens.
Maybe if nothing gets fixed I can get my extended warranty money I paid for back.(not good, I really like Mercedes and this car, I have even thought of upgrading later when my show car gets finished)

Over a year ago I got a windshield replaced by another company that paid for the windshield (there fault). They paid a company to come fix my windshield. In that time Iv taken my car to get serviced (plenty of times) etc... and then just paid for this new extended warranty.

I just found out who replaced the windshield over a year ago not because of an invoice but his card going through all kinds of files I called him and he said I would of noticed water on the floor board.


AZN says take it too different shop, well that have it in the system!
This other shop that I was about to make an appointment with said its 135 dollars for a service check if they find out if the part is voided under warranty.

I guess however it was installed, not a Benz windshield. I have no idea. The windshield is glued. I guess however the windshield was installed that water leaks into whatever.. causing the AC and Heat not to blow out the air.

Not only that, I called 800-367-6372 i think its one of the mercedes USA numbers. ITs very possible that if I were to pay for everything to get fixed that the dealership wont sign something... (cant remember what it was)
Meaning, if I get it fixed leave and something else goes wrong they can trace back the other windshield and will void my warranty all over again

not to steal this thread away but, I just wanted to know what aftermarket things would void my warranty? So far, I tinted my window, put on some HID's and installed an X-pipe. Does this void ALL my warranty?

Wait, i still dont get it. So you had your car looked at by a MB dealer for your AC/Heater not blowing air right?

So just because 1 part of your car is replaced with a non OEM part, you're whole cars warranty is voided?

1st question- yes

2nd- yes, because water leaked down from the windshield and broke a part that blows the AC and Heat air they are voiding my warranty. In addition, yes this could result if I were to pay out of pocket and something else happen like electronically they could then look at the past and see that I didnt have a Mercedes Windshield and that water leaked down in there and void the warranty

Possibly... I know it sounds crazy. But lets say your windows dont work and you take your car in to MB and for some reason they say that the reason your windows dont go up and down because the tint on your car. then yes it would void your warranty I guess.

I went as far as asking this...
If I put on a different set of tires and my suspension goes bad it could void the warranty. Maybe the tires were low profile or something I dont know but I guess it could.

it's so hard to imagine something like this happening to anyone who owns any type of vehicle and has a warranty.

I'm sure lots of people get there windshield, tires, and brake pads installed somewhere else besides MB. then to find out later it voids your warranty? I didn't replace the windshield, the company who replaced it were paid by the company who was at fault in the first place.

I have done nothing extra to my car like rims, exhaust, supercharger, Ecu and I get my car looked at, serviced and inspected at MB.
honestly I have no idea at all how something like this can be blown waaay out of proportion.

to all the people who's done anythng extra to their car even example; to anyone thats replaced the orange lights that are on the left and right of the front bumper with clear or painted lights (aka the evosport pre-painted bumper reflectors) and MB has to replace the fog lights or something "hey it might void your warranty"

Why don't you remove the water trap above the battery (three clamps) which will reveal the fan motor and see if it's frozen? A little rust on the fixing nut is normal but yours may be worse. If you can turn it maybe it will free up.
