I see that the REST function has returned to the heater panel which I miss almost as much as memory seats.

NO diesel W204, E or S available in Mexico, there is no market for it, so there goes your Third World statement. Maybe for 2012. Those who can afford a MB in Mexico can certainly well afford the low MPG expense of a gasoline-powered Benz. There are other "Third World" countries where only gasoline-powered MB models are available.
In fact, I also have a MB diesel but its the Sprinter commercial van. It has paid for itself in fuel savings in just 3 1/2 years. Like getting a FREE vehicle, when you buy a MB van just think of it as prepaying the fuel (at gasoline prices) for 3 1/2 years and the Sprinter is FREE. Service on the diesel is near zero, as the only engine part replaced was the turbo still under warranty, after 330,000 kms. The Sprinter has an automatic transmission.
As for driving, I have the privilege of hitting the electronic limiter (240 kph) almost every time I drive. Wish I had the C250 CDI instead of the C300 because it IS expensive. Can you drive like that in the USA or Canada? Maybe the phrase "Third World Driving" should be coined to describe the driving experience in the US, Canada and especially England.
Maybe its the US that has "Third World" vehicles. Poor America, no turbo Mercs... Not in the W204 anyway.

The W204 Sport in Mexico comes with practically EVERY accessory (Euro 2 package and then some, with AMG package including fantastic seating not available in the US) except the HK sound system and heated seats. Michelin Primacy HPs are included, they cost twice what the PS2's do.
When I purchased my C300 a year ago, comparing the extras and taking off just the value-added tax (and remember there are non-refundable sales taxes in the US), the almost fully equipped W204 was about $4,000 to $5,000 less than the equivalently equipped C in the US. I am quite pleased with the "bargain" C300, which required only 20% down payment and FREE 0% financing in Mexico from Daimler Finance!!! Go figure.

One of the plants is in a city were many actually walk to their work, opting to further their children's private education in high school and college instead of having the (unnecessary) expense of a car.
One has to put in perspective the "sweet deal", the nearest MB dealer is 230 miles away (made it in 2 hours 5 minutes last time, including getting stuck in two traffic jams), just getting the financing required over 200 pages of documentation. I waited a month for the C300, only to find that it did not include the HK stereo system or iPod interface. almost returned the car, except after investigating, found out that NO W204 in Mexico comes with the HK system except the C63. Dealer threw in the iPod interface.
ALL C300 and C350 Sport's come equally equipped, with everything available including special AMG trim, HID, LED rear light, auto wipers, Bluetooth, etc., except the following:
HK system, COMAND system (no maps for Mexico yet, not even for the E S, or SLS), Panoramic roof (has regular sunroof), heated seats (what for?), fold down rear seat, Parktronic or garage door opener. Think that's all that is not on my C300.
After seeing what an identically equipped C300 would run in the US, and considering no interest, you are right it's a "sweet deal". MB Mexico must get special pricing from Stuttgart, as all C300s and C350s can get run-off in several-month inventory quantities on the production line with identical equipment, which saves MB, the dealers and the customers a lot of $. I have a one-of-a-kind AMG seating with Sahara beige interior (not in the catalog) at no extra cost. Maybe I was lucky and got a Designo vehicle at no extra cost?
I saw in the 2012 catalog that this seating with the huge bolsters is now standard with the AMG package. Maybe my C300 was ahead of its time?
