how to fish wire from trunk forward?
I'm installing the rear camera and could do with some help getting the RCA cable to the front.
I want to go via the passenger side sills.
Do I route the wires along with the other bundle and does that pass through the sills?
Any advice would be appreciated.
THanks
Nikos

Sorry - another dumb question. I've popped up the plastic sills.
What's the best way to get my fish into the cable channel? Should I start from the passenger footwell and thread all the way back, and start from the sills themselves and pull from there?

Did you get the camera from us? If so all the step by steps should have been in the box. If for some reason they were not...call customer service at your convenience.

Its a very long document that is a printed one sent with each of our systems.
Overview:
1. remove right trunk wall
2. remove rear seat pad, loosen rear seat back
3. thread camera wire from deck lid - down hinge and tie into right side of trunk
4. (some installations) - run provided wire WITH camera wire to rear backup wire.
5. thread through rear back seat and to right side door sills.
6. IMPORTANT - it is best NOT to power camera from rear area, but use cigarette lighter power (accessory). This avoids using several wires that will read 12v with a meter, but are actually data wires. ALSO, you want the camera on the entire time the car is on to avoid sync issues. If the camera is CMOS, it won't last too long powered this way though (CCD is fine).
Side note: We NEVER recommend CMOS cameras. They are cheap and won't last that long (plus poor quality video, low light, etc)

1. What type of camera does MB use, CMOS or CCD or other type?
2. To me the most difficult step is to take the 7" monitor out for cable connection. I believe it can be done but I am not sure I can avoid any scratch, or parts becomes loose after putting them back. Any simplified but easy to understand tips and steps? I wish my car is factory pre-wired for the camera.
Thanks.

NEVER NEVER NEVER use a CMOS camera. There is not one single car manufacturer that uses CMOS cameras. They just do not perform properly, stink in low light, poor video quality, and also do not work in hot or cold weather. In addition, the duty cycle of a CMOS sensor is short and can not be powered all the time when the car is on. So if it flips on just when in reverse there is a short lag to get video and may also have sync issues. If it is powered on all the time with ignition, it will last 1 - 2 years if your driving habits are typical. CMOS are cheap for a reason.
did I say never use cmos ?

Thanks.
I didn't get the kit from you guys because I didn't need the VIM module.
One warning. DON'T order the CCD-2000 from amazon http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-CCD-20.../dp/B000P1TPH8
the 3rd party provider send you a CMOS camera without notifying of the difference.

For other readers. You can order just a camera from us without the VIM. We have 3 different types and all 3 use the same CCD sensor (all three happen to be the same camera that Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini, BMW and Land Rover use)
