Modified w204 @ Hofstra?

I saw a modified w204 at Hofstra University today that looked pretty good. It was early in the morning and raining, so I didn't get a chance to get a good look, and unfortunately you were gone by the time I got back to my car.

Anyways, I was wondering if you were here on the forums. Blacked out side markers, tinted clear turn signals, and painted black oem sport rims (which is the real reason for this thread).

I loved what you did to the OEM rims, will definitely hold me over until I need new tires and will replace rims. It didn't look like a gloss nor a flat black. Same rims as the 2009 sport (14 spoke? that's on my car). I REALLY like the color he had, was like a flat black with a clear coat? In between flat and gloss black. Looked great. Is it removable with paint stripper or something?

DAMMIT MAN. Why no picture? I'm looking at painting my AMG rims this weekend and I would love to know how they look on my car before I go through the PITA.

I know, I'm kind of kicking myself in the head for not having done that. But I think the guy was still in his car and it was POURING rain out, with no jacket, and I didn't want to get my new white iPhone 4 wet ;-)

It did look very good though, but the reason why I want this specific one is because it didn't look like traditional "painted" rims which I hate and think looks crappy. This looked VERY good, almost as if they were made in that color. Similar to "black chrome". Perhaps it was Plasti-dip?

I will keep a lookout for it on friday, and if not, then on monday and next wednesday again...

Lol, sorry about that. Doh! Definitely put up pictures and your review of it when your done! From what I have heard to get that "gloss" look from the plasti-dip you go over it with clear. But I am not sure if you use the plasti-dip clear or regular paint clear coat.

Jctevere, i've got the same 14(?) spoke rims that are OEM on the 2009 C300.

I've been really wanting to paint my rims to hold me over until I can get a new set... Any chance the guy had just let brake dust build up on his rims? hahaha, sometimes when I wash my car I intentionally leave the brake dust on as it gives the rims a gunmetal look...

Do keep me posted on any developments.

Looks good, I'm surprised that this thread actually worked. Haha. I just picked up a can of plasti-dip to try it out on a rim of a workman gator I have at my job, pretty easy stuff to use. Did you do a clear coat over your rims? It looks more gloss black than the flat/matte black look some other rims that have been plasti-dipped look.

Also, did you paint it yourself? Definitely thinking about doing this to hold me over until I get new rims.

upcoming mod list:
Gloss black roof wrap
Tint red portions of taillights to dark cherry

Dunno if I will be on campus tomorrow yet. I might be feeling under the weather to get another day or two for my assignments, lol.

hey man yea for sure plaits dip is legit i used 3 cans and did the wheels myself...it wasn't hard..just took time..almost 3 hours make sure you do it when its sunny wheels can dry easily then oh and nope no clear coat just 3 solid coats each one thicker than the previous...you gotta wait 10-15 minutes in between tho

Last edited by FORTY15; May 9, 2011 at 10:16 AM. Reason: dip
