advice on model purchase
I am in the process of trading in my 2005 E320CDI, and picking up a C Class.
I am having a hard time deciding between the 2011 C300 or the C300 4Matic??
how different will the 4 wheel drive make it??

With the same tires on both, 4MATIC will be more effective in snow. But, with good winter tires, either will get through, as I do in Michigan. The rest of the year, it feels "heavier" up front, and because it really is heavier, it will be slower and use more fuel. I have a C300 and get C300 4MATIC dealer service loaners, and look forward to giving them back.

Completely different personality to the car, but not the best 6 speed around by a long shot. I would love to do a 3 series trans swap, but that's just a dream. But, it's better than not having a stick, and 2011 is the last year for that choice from MB. They are dropping the manual trans for 2012, so buy now or look for the blue and white roundel!

It really depends where you live. Up here in Canada there are very few non-4Matics and the regular models are hard to resell. My 4Matic with good winters will go through anything.

white for sure. easiest to keep clean and less around then silver, black and silver are classic colors for Benz. If you wanna sporty drive get a C350, or if you want 4matic get a c3004matic. I wouldnt get teh c300 rwd IMO, you will long for the power, and its almost the same money, the 350s are quick

Speaking as someone who details many cars, white is not satisfying to work with. I don't get it in the least bit.
Palladium would be much better, but it still easy to care for. I actually think white looks grubby, dirty, and shows scratches more.

I was initially going to get a 4matic just based on the area of the country that I live in. I test drove the the 300 4M and 300 RWD to see if I was missing anything. The weight on the 4Matic seemed noticeable and the car was indeed slower and unfortunately a bit less fun to the point where I completely ruled out the drive train. I eventually decided to just get a loaded 350 at that point. Couldn't be happier.
