Ahh good observation

Wish someone close would go snap some pics

Remote turbos don't use intercoolers. The charge pipe acts as the intercooler. From what I heard it does a damn good job.

Just like all intercooled turbos. And this filters out the dirt how?

Ah well, something will melt long before ingested dirt becomes a problem.

You must not know anything about Forced Induction at all? There is a filter before the turbo housing. Filters out all grime and whatever. Ill link a pic for you. Also the m272 e35 engine is a solid built engine by Mercedes-Benz engineers, 7-10psi will not harm the aluminum pistons coated in iron, or the forged steel rods.

Also remote turbos do use intercoolers for high boosting cars. As it helps cool the air even more. But for 7psi pretty much not needed, although the c350 is not rear mounted, its more...mid mounted, so im sure its running an intercooler.

On cali pump you think it'll withstand detonation? Or will we need meth?

91 pump gas would run 7psi fine, but I truly think it would limit it to around 350-360whp. Im actually working on a similar setup once my car is back. But with 91 octane I'd most likely add a gallon of toluene to add octane.

Thanks for your input. Do you have anyone in mind to do your tuning? Anyone that you trust?

Eurocharged stated the stock ecu handled 7psi. Which is what I intend to run. Once I get my foot in the door with the boost I'll look into tuning for higher boost. But I'm fairly certain stock ecu can handle a few psi without tweaking.

How much is the upgrade to turbo costing you? Is it a kit or do you have to head to TX to get it installed?

As of now everything is looking to cost around 2k, and installation will be done by myself and friends. As we have our own welding station, and exhaust shop that does our work for fairly cheap. If everything goes according to plan, I'd be reviewing, and video blogging the project, and hopefully making it available to everyone.

sounds sweet, what turbo/size are you planning on going with? also are you going to have to fabricate a turbo malifold?

Awesome, hopefully this "DIY guide" will also work for the c300 engine (at least as far as turbo location goes and other details). I would love to do this, but will probably wait until my warranty is up (2 or so years left).

Thanks for the above reply

Good price, what turbo manufacturer are you going to go with? I wish I never sold my kit. I couldn't find a good tuner, this was long before I heard Eurocharged tuned the C350.

Good luck, 350wheel is some serious power (knowing that the CLK63 BS stock put down 390 ). 100 more wheel than what I have now.

Im looking at the PT5857 turbo, around the same as gt30r turbine, but gt35r housing. Hopefully It all comes through over summer! 350whp would be insane lol

running the car on any boost without tuning is a bad idea...

I think you misunderstood, the car was NEVER run with the stock software under any boost. We have full access to the ecu, and are able to get the ecu to work with a boosted setup. (not a standalone)

Good luck with your project!

So you were able to tweak the ecu to run under boosted conditions correct?

correct......we were able to find various maps/etc to allow the car to use a boosted system and still maintain the factory ecu.

(changes to the software coding)

Thanks for the info. Why didn't you make a standard offroad kit, to take advantage of all you're development work? Also, was it a rear turbo, or off the down pipe?
