Durable Spray Paint?

I plan on respraying my grille & fog light housing, but I am looking to purchase a spray paint that can withstand rock chips to a greater extent than the last spray paint that I used.

Suggestions?

Another round of ICE
When I had my grille painted, the shop said they added "flex" just as they do when painting a fascia because it is a bendable part, not rigid like steel. They said this makes the paint more pliable and less prone to chipping. I don't know if you can find paint with flex additive already in it, but they mix it on-site for painting fascias, etc., pretty much anything other than sheet metal.

Great to know. Come to think of it, I may just vinyl the fog light housing, the grille chrome strips & then spray paint the Merc emblem.

If you speak to Spies Hecker. They can give you more durable paints.

matte or gloss black? If matte, I'd suggest plastidip.

Is Plasticdip even better than VHT Hood and Bumper Paint SP027?

It's better in that when the chips start accumilating, you can just peel it off and coat it again. No mess with sanding. Only comes in matte black though, but you can use it as a base layer and paint over with your color of choice. You can still peel it off later (although slightly harder).

I have simply sprayed some VHT in a cup and dipped a brush in it for touchups. Of course, peeling and completly respraying would be a little cleaner looking if you really look closely.

the better you prep the surface, the more bond. sand whatever your painting well, and prime and paint w VHT (if you like) w a few coats, then clear it a few coats, you can use satin if you dont want shine. that will protect ALOT of the chips.

I tried both and I like VHT better.
