Nice intake growl with AFE ProDry S filters!
I have not posted in awhile and honestly I was getting a little bored with my 2008 C350 and thinking about a trade... Then I had the shop replace the stock air filters with the AFE ProDry S filters, a performance air filter that does not use oil like K&N. To clean you simply vacuum out the crud and reuse over and over again.
With the ram air set-up stock on this car and these filters there is a distinct intake growl now that is very evident with WOT from about 20-45 mph. The throttle also seems a bit more responsive. Just this new little intake sound has reignited my excitement for this car! If anyone is looking for a very simple mod this is the way to go. I doubt it adds any power but the intake sound is notably better than stock![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
I bought mine from autoanything for around $100 for the pair.

My dealership installed them but they reported no issues. I assume that they were a perfect fit. The weird thing was the box actually said S-class...they must use the same size.
I am now getting worse mileage though since I want to drive the car hard to hear the growl!!! I definitely think the car is more responsive too.

Uhhh...see previous post, my dealer installed them during a routine service. I did not want to bother taking off the engine cover, intake tubes, etc. They charged me $40 to install the AFE filters that I brought with me. I am definitely not going to dismantle the engine cover to take pics. I'm not much of a DIY-er.

The proof is that this little mod has made me reconsider trading my C350, it sounds a little "mean" when you get on it now. Really has changed the whole personality of the car for me even it if is just sound. I was all ready to trade her in for a brand new GTI too.

not sure, honestly I bought mine about nine months ago and they sat at home until I needed to perform service at 50k miles. You can buy them from the AFE website or maybe get the model number to compare with autoanything.com.

This is straight from AFE website:
We recommend that you follow the manufactures recommended service schedule. You can find that in your vehicle owner’s manual. Once you reach that mileage mark, take a look at the filter. If you can still see the aluminum mesh on the filter then it is still ok and does not need to be cleaned. Check the filter every other oil change. When it gets to the point where you cannot see the aluminum mesh on the filter anymore, then it is time to clean the filter. You should clean the filter around the 25K - 30K mile mark under normal conditions. In extreme dusty or dirty environments, you should check more frequently. Over cleaning the filter will shorten the life of the filter and reduce its filtration efficiency. Accumulating some dirt actually helps the filtration.
Important Reminder - If you can still see the aluminum mesh on the outside of the filter, it is still fine. Clean the filter when you can not see the aluminum mesh on the outside of the filter.

I think there might have been a little misunderstanding. Haha. I meant the usual intervals for changing filters on this car, whether it's stock or aftermarket.

every 25k miles or sooner if in dusty or dirty conditions. If you want to actually get a HP or 2 get BNC filters. theyre like 150 a pair, but all the tuners and HP junkies use them, the guy who tuned my 350 recommended them and hes not affiliated.
