So i went to my muffler shop today and the guy says he doesnt want me to buy 4 individual tips and make a Y pipe cause he says he doesnt do stainless steel welding, he wants me to find 2x dual exhaust tips.
WTF??
is he an idiot
that requires the same welding, its just that 2 tips are prewelded, anyways
it limits my choice to get
like S500 series (2007) amg dual tips
will they fit the diffuser?
the diffuser width openening is 11 inches long
are the S class amg tips wider than 11inches?
thats incorrect. its a simple weld to attach premade dual tips, the problem is you will never find a set that are staggered like the C63, they are all dual flush. It is pretty complicated to build a Y pipe and have it straight using 4 seperate tips, more than half the guys on here that have done the quad mod using the how to have crooked tips, some worst than others, we've all seen the pics. stainless needs a tig weld w pure argon, 99% of exhaust shops use mig w 75/25 argon/O2 mix, and dont know that you can still weld stainless u just gotta go slow and burn evenly. The howto in the DIY is great for theory, but bad for parts tip wise. those tips are hollow all the way thru like the stock C tips and you see the inside pipe and the hollow around it when done. THere are tips out there that are 2.25 fixed end that are perfect, you gotta pay a little more and the welder has to be above average and patient. I searched for weeks when I did my first exhaust setup, these are the type of tips you need
I live in Calgary,Alberta, not many good shops thatll do it for a good price.
One shop asked for 400$ to install a X-Pipe.
The people i went to install the Xpipe did it for 100$
and those are the same people who cant do the Y pipe for quad tip
