Alternative to OEM Jack
Has anyone gotten a roadside jack for their W204? The OEM one is crap and I just don't trust it in case of emergencies. Aside from MB roadside, anyone know of an alternative?
Obviously Im looking for something compact that fits in the car.

I've changed about four tires on my W204 due to potholes and never had a problem. If you are very concerned about the stock jack failing or your car falling off of it, go buy a pair of jack stands. They can be had for under $20 online and about $50-$60 retail. There is a thread on the c63 forum detailing how to get the jack stands under the car and into the factory lift points without lifting the car by the differential.
I keep a set of reflective triangles and cones in my car to lay out in the case I am working dangerously close to the roadway. Getting run over by another driver is a bigger concern of mine when changing a tire than the stock jack failing.
If you don't want to cough up the dough for jack stands, leave your rim (face up of course) under the body as close as possible to the stock jack point. In the case that your car DOES fall off the jack, you might damage some body panels but you WILL be able to get back under the car and lift it using the jack again.

I think a normal hydraulic bottle jack would not be any more stable beside the road than the OEM jack. The OEM is designed for uneven ground beside the road. Scissor lift jacks may be a little stronger but their size is doubled. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl...88#Description
In any case you will have to find a jack which fits the jacking point of your car.
In my opinion the OEM jack is OK for the odd time you have to change a tyre away from home.
I use small 2 tonne trolley jacks for the concrete floor at home with specially made steel blocks welded to them which fit the cars jacking points.

It is also a lot heavier to cart around wasting fuel over the life of the car.
