2014 C-Class Question

Hi all!

New to the forum and I bring to you a "noob" question. I just read online that the C-class will be completely re-designed for 2014. Does this mean that the 2012 C-Class coupe (which debuts in August/Sept in the US) already has the new body of the 14' C? Or will it be changed again with the release of the Cab and Sedan?

Thanks!

I am sure the sedan will roll out first, and then the coupe will follow later

But the coupe is debuting in like a month. They wouldn't release it then redesign it like two years later when the sedan/convert comes out?

most likely it will be redone in 2016 roughly every 4 years.

Nobody knows for sure I don't think.

But the guess seems to be no, it's going to be different.

W204 came out in 07 in Europe, in 14 the model will be 7 years old therefore I would expect a complete redesign. What you are seeing now are just facelifts.

Some have speculated it will be the 2014 MY (6 years will have gone by since the 2008 MY), and may look more like this:

The F800 is perhaps too radical a quantum leap for an absolutely essential sales leader for MB in the C class. The rumor is if the A class concept is accepted, then in a few more years some elements of the F800 could be incorporated into the 2014 C class.

technically, mercedes didnt spend too much time on the coupe this time around, same front end, same rear end, just two less doors.

The future concept compositions look amazing! I'm really liking the futuristic edge albeit pure speculation. So basically the 2012 coupe is just holding us over with something new (2 less doors, gorgeous interior, more engine options) for the complete overhaul in 14+. At least there is something new to consider :]

The '12 Coupe is based on the present sedan except for a lower roof. Same width and length. There was a black one here (MBUSA owned) just last week.

Last week's Auto motor und Sport showed most of the upcoming German cars including the W205 Coupe which will be based on the 2014 W205 4-door which I am waiting for.

Buying a 2012 model now means the car will be out of date in two years.

That depends on your definition of "out of date". There are always new models coming out. Some people also prefer to buy late in the model life so more defects are fixed. There's nothing inherently wrong with doing it IMO.

The coupe won't be redesigned in 2014..id expect 2015 at the earliest...so buying a 2012 coupe isn't a big risk..itll stay fresh for a few years.

Thanks C300 that is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Didn't want to consider the purchase if it would be outdated practically immediately.

Mercedes C-Class Preview- 27.09.2010
This is the new C-Class

Is this the most beautiful four-door, bearing a star in the grille? There is reason to hope that in future Stuttgart harmonious proportions are more important than grandstanding again. From 2014, the new Mercedes C-Class to the proof of this.
Mercedes-Benz is planning great things with his middle class: After Facelift (2011) follows the all-new 2014 C-Class with top technology and additional variants.
By Georg Kacher The situation is serious but not hopeless. When looking at the admission statistics of August 2010, we find the current C-class to fourth place after all - since the beginning of the year will mean for the Swabian middle class but a decrease of 16.5 percent. A signal that we take seriously at Mercedes. And you're prepared for. Because they obviously do not want in Stuttgart stand idly by stagnating sales figures and market shares shrink. So from 2014, the newly graduated and extended range.
Overview: All news and tests for the Mercedes C-Class

Looking: Mercedes is still trying to find a final design.
Such is the program for the successor (code BR205): • Sedan 3 / 2014 • Combi Wagon 9 / 2014 • C-Class Cabriolet 3 / 2015 • C-Class coupe 9 / 2015 • Newly designed successor GLK 12 / Until recently, 2015 was also being considered on a space concept C-class base, but because this car really the hapless R-class will replace, the planned high-roofed five-door is probably at the next E-Class dock. While Audi and BMW design language since its quite stylish (if a bit repetitive but Audi) in control, Mercedes is still looking for a final design identity. It is probably more difficult than expected to differentiate between the series and simultaneously across key to install the brand's typical style characteristics.
There's everything here news and tests to Mercedes-Benz

Design suggestion: The next C-Class recalls the study F800.
Therefore, it engages in Sindelfingen always for ornamental and decorative set pieces (lights, pontoon fenders, side lines, barbecue variations) to conceal that, that the architecture lacks the clear lines. The new C-Class generation remembers from many perspectives on the F800 research vehicle that feels sharp edges significantly less committed than varying radii. Dominantly affects mainly the upright, more wedge-shaped front with the large star, which runs like a thread through the DNA of the new Mercedes models. Both the headlights and the taillights now missing, however a striking night design that can not be replaced by sheer size. This allows the new modular MRA - Mercedes Rear-Wheel Drive Architecture (rear-drive architecture) - a significantly longer wheelbase with shorter overhangs and a wide track combined. Even with the wheel size, the brand goes on the offensive: for the new C-Class for the first time to request as much as 19 - and 20-inch model available.

More important however is the braver of the offer staggering. This is especially true for the coupe and convertible, the bodywork not only with the seam Viertürern in common. Since it would seem to reactivate the Mustang nameplate, as well as inside the four-seater, a class of their own. But what happens to E-class coupe and convertible, the building now on the C-class platform? Both models are derived from the future E-Class and it comes with optional extras such as exclusive all-LED headlights, air suspension, or night vision device. The GLK is also re-thought, since the second edition adopted in favor of a sporty and elegant lines of getting used to Lego-style.
