Engine Noise, HELP
Engine Noise, HELP
Hi,
here is the link to the video capturing the noise coming from the engine of my 2008.
I taped the noise as it is random, mostly happens in the morning, took it to the MB service, they claim until they can duplicate the noise themselves they can't do anything!!!???
What should I do, my Warranty is going to expire pretty soon.
Thanks,
r.

Sounds as if it is your auxilliary belt or an auxilliary bearing . May be best to leave it with them overnight so they can hear it in the morning when cold.
I had the same issue & a new belt under warranty solved it.

My car had the exact squeaking noise on cold starts. During the first repair attempt, the dealer replaced a belt drive pulley and installed a new V-belt. But, the noise was back the following morning.
The dealer then replaced the belt tensioner (part #272-200-02-70) and the V-belt (part #001-993-18-96). That was a year ago and the problem has not resurfaced.

No need for waiting till they hear the noise. With a loud play of your recording is evident the "something is touching squeak" and they should be able to fix it on the spot without a runaround.

Thank you so much for your input, it helped me a lot. I told the SA that I placed the video on you tube, and into the MB forum, told him I would call 1800-MB to see if they can help me, he told me: go ahead and call them, and then a while after he called me back, saying they will look into it more...later he called again saying they will replace belt tensioner and pulley...that is after I told him about it(learning it from you all), though they didn't replace the belt!
Thank you to all of you, your help is much appreciated.
