SRS stands for the Supplemental Restraint System...the air bags. Get thee to a dealer ASAP.

I unplugged the cables under the seats when I detailed my car and the sign came up afterwards. Took it to the dealer and acted stupid and was covered by the warranty. Good luck!

You cannot dismiss this warning with an OBD scanner. This is a dealer fix and when the warning is displayed, the system is off.

It doesn't matter. It's the airbags. Postpone a mod. The entire crush of the body and performance of the seat belts is predicated on the airbags deploying at changes in velocity of more than approximately 10-14 mph. The intent of the seat belts is to keep you inside the vehicle and positioned to benefit from the airbag deployment. Belts alone may not prevent serious injury to chest or head from impact. The absence of side impact airbags cannot be managed by structure alone. Without airbags, you and/or whomever is with you may suffer greatly in an impact. And, as you know about a potential failure of the airbags now, resulting injuries may be considered foreseeable and negligence on your part if you allow it to continue and carry passengers. Borrow the money if needed, but get this checked out.

I had the same problem, lucky i was under 50k and got it covered. This is what was written on my work order.

Client states SRS light comes on.
Cause: ELECTRICAL FAULT.
Belt buckle connected SDS and performed short test, found fault code 9B51 short to positive or open circuit in drivers front belt buckle. Clicked on guided test and checked for wiring fault. Found no fault in the wiring. Removed left front seat to remove and replace faulty belt buckle. Erased faullt codes after repairs and roadtested car.

541011 short test, perform

541012 test program - after short test perfom

911516 Lock for seatbelt on driver's seat replace.

1 204-860-23-69 SB/LOCK

Also when I had SRS light on also the red airbag light was on. both were fixed under warranty. I guess once they fixed the SRS problem airbag light were automatically fixed as well.
Hope this helped and even if you are out of warranty you should get it fixed. Good luck.

Well considering the fact its only 3yrs old and this is not something normal like breaks, oil change, tires, and ect. This is a safety issue that I did nothing to make this happen. For all I know this could be a recall! Mercedes Benz has a good reputation and this is something that they should fix for me without a charge!

Here's another glowing example of why an extended warranty is always a good idea.

BTW, the seat belt buckle electrical contacts are part of the Restraint System and the German manufacturers have been having trouble with them since the '90s.

Personal experience.

Took the car in today, they found out I need a new seatbelt buckle. Also they told me they might be able to cover it under warranty.

In my 25 years of driving, I have had a several problems repaired under warranty once the car is over the mileage limit. If you are as close as you are, I would really expect them to take care of it. Most of the time, you just have to ask and be nice about it...
Good luck

Yesterday I drove on my normal route and noticed quickly that no gauges working and no turn signals working. I turned back home. Turned car off, then back on, then all gauges worked but got several warning signals like SRS, ABS faults etc. Then unhooked battery, then engine would not start. Waited about 1/2 hour then tried and it fired OK, but still getting SRS warning. Everything else is OK but this now. We did have a lot of rain lately, maybe wiring is wet? I don't see blown fuse. Any thoughts?
