a/c problem

Today, when I tried turning on the a/c, but it would not turned on. Every time I press the a/c button, it would just link twice, but a/c is not on. Has anyone encountered this problem before?

I checked the manual, but nothing unless I missed it.

I'll probably end up calling the dealership to have them check it out.

You should not need to turn the A/C "on". With a temperature selected and the system set to AUTO, the car will regulate the environment. When you do this, does no cold air come out?

The A/C system is protected by a pressure temperature sender unit. Either the P/T sensor unit has failed or there is no refrigerant in the system. In rare circumstances the dash controller fails.

Low pressure prevents the compressor from running to protect it. You cannot diagnose these systems without first ensuring full pressure.

The pressure/temp sensor is at the base of the radiator in the bottom of the condenser.

First step is to get an A/C shop to check pressure.

Many of us don't like running the system on Auto because of high fan speeds and noise.

If pressure is low or the P/T sensor/switch has failed it won't operate on Auto either.

I usually don't use AUTO because is because of the high speed fan and noise like Glyn mentioned.
I selected 18C/64F and pressed AUTO and the a/c system did not turn on nor there was cold air coming out. Also, today's temperature was 20C/68F with sun shinning on me which was pretty warm.

I'll just bring to a shop or the dealership to have it check out in the end.

Thanks for the help though.
