Looks good I like the floating star. Peel it off and do it again. I did my mirrors in plasti and left it on for a few months and it was a P.I.T.A. to get it off the small spaces.

Yeah I think it looks pretty hot. I was afraid I would mess it up. But it wasn't hard at all. I really do wish I woulda used real paint. So your saying after a while it's just too messy to remove?

I really want the same color in real paint. Does anybody know what real paint I can use? And would I need to do like a primer or a clear coat?

Not so much messy, but difficult to remove in small spaces.

Why do you say this?

You can go to Autozone, or similar, and buy the primer, paint and clearcoat for $20. You can even get the "good" stuff that is paint and primer in one. Unfortunately, they don't carry MBenz colors so you have to get universal black which comes in either flat or gloss.

You could buy the OEM color from MBenz but I am unsure if it would be availabile in a large enough quantity and if it is the cost may be high. I think the touch-up bottles are around $25 and I've never seen larger.

You can also order the VHT Hood & Bumper paint from Summit like others have done.

Regardless of paint choice the below link will help. I'm getting ready to do mine but I am still debating where or not to keep the chrome strips or go with the floating star.

^^^I was just curious and perhaps others who are planning to do this mod may also be curious as to why you wished you used real paint instead of plasti-dip. Thought the information may be useful for someone who is on the fence about plasti-dip.

real paint is a little more difficult, getting the paint or primer to stick to chrome is a PITA

Have a local body shop do it. Shouldn't be more than $100.00 USD.

Regular paint won't bond properly to the plastic grill. It'll start to chip when even the smallest stone gets kicked up on the road. e-bay has some up for sale http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...All-Categories

this is the simple way

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzM7KfiLZO0

doing it this way you don't have to remove anything. now there is a way more detail way.

what i did was remove it this way and then i took apart the rest of the stuff to make it easy to put it back on. let me put the link for the better video. gotta find it

at first i was pretty scared cause i didn't want to break anything. first thing i did was remove that middle pin that your suppose to twist. well i ended up breaking that little pin, its plastic. when back to the house and began to look for **** online, thats when i found the first video. literally it was just that simple. i did it slowly and did one side at a time little by little. it came out so fast, i was mad cause it was so damn simple

once i took it off and was painting it i found the second link. you have to at least remove the one bolt to make it easy to pop it back in. but yeah basically it just pops back in. i mean the bolt the second video minute 4 and 29 secs. However i also removed the plastic part behind it to make it easy to put it back in. its not complicated once you start doing it.

Take the grill off... its very simple just remove the air intake hoses and the black plastic piece directly on top of the grill. I'm sure there is a DIY or video floating around
