W204 C Class C200 CDI
Problems adding Cruise control to my W204 2007 C200 CDI

I am hoping someone/anyone can help me here. My car is the 6 speed manual version with no cruise control.

I have gone down the path of adding the complete cruise control column from a wrecked W204, slip ring, command column, and indicator stalk and Cruise stalk.

I have had the car SCN coded to accept the add on kit, however when I activate the control it just says "cruise control/lim inoperative.

In one of the menus in diog mode it stated somewhere inconsequential or consequential error or words to that effect, however we can find no errors listed. I know the slip ring is fine, I have changed the command unit which only leaves the indicator/cruise stalk, could this be faulty without showing errors in diog mode.

The car has had ALL known firmware updated, am I missing anything?, are there any other parts that may be needed on this model, cruise control amp etc although I am assured there should not be.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Kind regards Kevin Dawson

i want to do the same so i think that you have to replace the esp control unit and the abr if your car is before 2008.....for the 2008 and after models they need only the steering column with the cruise control switch and then code with star diagnosis.....if anybody knows anything would be appreciated because is a very usefull retrofit to w204 cars without factory cruise control....

Hi, i'm new to this forum, this would be my first post.

Did you manage to get this done? I desperately need to this very same mode in my 2007 C220CDI W204. Any clues?

So I managed to finally retrofit the Cruise Control to my W204 2007 220CDI 6-speed manual

I had a trip to Hilden in Germany where there's a workshop called No Speed Limit. It turned out to be a MB Dealer which also retrofits basicaly every single thing you may want on your Benz. He was extremely helpfull, the job took him about 2 hours and he could not understand why nobody knows what to do about the Cruise retrofit. He does.

It cost me a lot, 1589 euro, but it was only because I needed the ECU replacement. Depending on the car, you either need to replace it or not. Mine had to which he told me seconds after I gave him my VIN number. If you don't need to do it he will charge you 399 euro. I don't know how he can tell wheter you need the change or not, but he did a lot of MBs CC retrofit and never had a problem.

So that's it! I have my cruise control on new MB original parts and the best part is that when i asked my dealer to check once again for cruise control retrofit and gave him the VIN he was just shocked and answered: "I don't know how you did it, i don't know who did it, but my factory Star tells me your car has Cruise from the factory" :-) I simply love the way Hilden guys handled it and the factory cruise in my Benz!

Cheers,
Toki

You went with his word and multiplied the price by 4 without as much as asking what indicated this to him so quickly?

I knew that was the only thing that wasn't working. I tried the exact same thing he did besides the ECU part. It made sense. He was precise that not many people don't know about it, even Comand. Besides, why would he tell me that? That's his knowledge and advantage at the same time. A friend of mine at a MB dealer in Poland tried to SCN code the part with the same number - didn't work. On a german forum where I found the thread there were people who had to change as well as the ones who didn't. After the change everything worked flawlessly:-)
