DPF delete would be next performance step I'd take with a diesel, although you'll be shooting soot through your pipes so no longer clean diesel. Not sure what the emission laws are over at UK, but this is pretty common with the TDI crowd.

What kind of improvement did you get? I have a C320CDi, in Australia, and fitted a Powerchip. This seemed to give much better response, but, every now and then the engine shuts down to "Limp Home" mode and the engine diagnostic light comes on. Turning the engine off resets the motor, but, the engine diagnostic light stays on until the engine has been stop/started a number of times. (5 approximately)

That was an engine remap, rather than a "chip"?

Quite impressive numbers.

Yes it was a remap, they couldn't just plug in either so they had to remove the ECU and open it up. Just stuck on what can be done next apart from cosmetic

Do you really need more performance i.e. acceleration?

I have no idea where you are in the UK, but, that should be enough power and, particularly, torque for most needs. Where would you use that without getting busted?

In all seriousness. Why did you choose a diesel?

For me I, previously, had a Mercedes C320 Petrol engine and was disappointed. The next one was the C320CDI. It transformed my ideas of Prestige, Performance and Economy. My car was approximately 125,000 Pounds, but, compared to the equivalent C300 Petrol it was a dream.

I drove a few diesels whilst travelling in UK and found the performance and economy were much better than the petrol equivalents. (London to Edinburgh in half a tank)

I chose a diesel because of the distance i drive for work and also as you mentioned the performance to power ration is so much better then petrol vehicles. I also like the look on peoples faces when there window winds down and your asked what engine you have and you tell them its a diesel. And you have to love the torque that comes with a diesel too

Just reading your notes, again. What is a "Sprint Booster"?

Regarding my comments about performance chips. Please note that I used the name "Powerchip" as a generic name. The actual chip was from "Chip Express" in UK.

Here are my comments to Powerchip.

Dear Wayne,

My most sincere apologies for using the name "Powerchip" in my comments re diesel tuning.

I think of "Powerchip" as a generic term for a chip in cars, just as people use the name "Hoover" for vacuum cleaners.

The actual chip installed was from "Chip Express" in UK and is still giving me problems, even though many modifications have been suggested.

Again, my apologies to "Powerchip". I used a "Powerchip" in my Audi A4 1.8T and was delighted with it.

Regards.

Jim Shann
