It can't be changed to default to S on the newer cars.
I actually find that I prefer E now and let the midrange torque do the work - I'll pop it to S if I have to make a quick getaway from a light or such, but stick it right back in E when I am done. Revving the snot out of it doesn't seem to make it much quicker.

Another perfect example of a onnce mighty tunning company going down the crapper. Cant break a code on a ECU, I say BS, little to no effort put into this.

Tim Bailey of Cobb tuning fame, there head tuner, told me any ECU can be cracked locked or not in less than a week. He broke the GTR locked code in less than two days. From what I understand that ECU was the most encrypted ECU ever. I doubt Mercedes locked ECU presents much of a problem to a real tuner.

And that is the odd part, the C250 will be the bulk of the sales in there lineup. I went with the C250 for one reason it was a turboed 4. I though that the tuning options would be endless. I guessed wrong.

Ok, update time. Renntech is still not done with the tune. They've got the code broken at this point and are experimenting with the ECU they have right now to make sure it sticks. I'm told that they have been getting a pretty serious amount of inquirys on the 250 tune, and you're right, it probably will be the bulk of their customer base. Yes, it is a colossal pain in the *** that I've waited so long to have nothing yet, but Renntech is a pretty solid company and I'm sure they'll get it done soon. In the meantime, I just picked up a 1981 SL380 (150hp out of a 3.8 V8, yawn), so I'll be driving that on nice weather days for a bit. I'll keep everyone updated.

Has anyone played with the "poor man's" variable boost control? Back in the Eagle Talon / Mitsubishi Eclipse days, you could attach a "bleeder" hose before the wastegate that effectively fools the wastegate into thinking it had less boost and thus, would delay opening. I.e. - If the max boost on the C250 is 10 psi (I don't know the exact number), the wastegate would open to allow anything over 10 psi to "bleed through". So if you bled out 2 psi of boost and the wastegate maxes out at 10 psi, your engine will actually "see" 12 psi of boost and the injectors would compensate for it up to a point.
Then again, I'm wondering if OBD2 diagnostics since 1996 prevents this scenario anymore by "knowing" exactly what boost the engine is seeing and would then crank it back down regardless of the wastegate. Or it could also throw a Check Engine Light (CEL).
Anyone know for sure?

I contacted JB, asking if they minimized retard when building boost at lower rpms. I had found that this is critical in tuning a turbo. They said they wanted to, but could not do it, so on the A-B dyno runs you can see they follow the same initial trace on the dyno chart. They basicly just changed the boost curve and richened the mix at wot.
Did Renntech say which ECU/CPU parameters they changed ?

No, I think what he meant was that since Burger has had a piggyback out for our cars for at least 5 months, it's a waste of time to wait for the Renntech.
Also as an update, I was told from a source in Renntech on another board, flash tunes for our cars basically won't be happening. CGI motors run a Siemens ECU, unlike the Bosch one used in the CLA, it's essentially unhackable. At the very least, not worth it for tuners to hack from the feedback I'm getting from many brand name tuners.

We have a C250 Piggy Back unit we are working on right now that is simular to our CLA45 Piggy Back as there is a tunerblock on the ECU that we cannot get passed on the C250. We have the unit on a street car and logging some miles on it. We hope to have it out soon but we want to makesure it is up to RENNtech standards and performs as well.

Not sure yet on either one yet. We have the low end and mid range feel pretty good right now and have about 200 miles on the test car. We are working on making some more top end power at this point. It is not easy on this car with the piggy back but we are working on it. As soon as we are ready to release the pricing and power info I will post it up right away.
