What is the most recent COMAND version for 2008-2011's?
Can you help a brother out? I think 2012 has a different setup entirely, but I could be wrong.
BTW if you want to know what version yours is with the stereo on press:
hang up, # and 1 for about 5 seconds. Engineering screen will pop up.
Its under HU version. SHould also be able to see what version of the maps you have also. Most recent is the 2012 update which is version 8 I believe.
Thanks.

I think everyone seems to be confusing the COMAND software with the Navteq Maps, COMAND software can only be updated by your dealer NOT via a group buy. The MAPS can be group bought from navteq and the current version is V.9

Warranty covered it.
I told them I had a volume issue. Would reset the volume to low and sometimes didn't want to adjust. I told them I read on the forums of many people having this issue and an update to the COMAND would solve it.
The update gives me a bird's eye view of the nav, or N always at top, shows POI at the nearest exits, gives you the ability to block out an area on a map so it will route you around that area... There were a couple of other advantages, don't remember what though. I'll have to look again later.

Oh, it lets you save a location or route that is "Off Road". For instance, where I work is in a new industrial area. It's not on the map, and shows up as a big field. Now I can save the route or area that is actually a road.

Just tell them you have the intermittent volume issue. He just asked when it happened, and I explained that it is not consistent, and I can't replicate it on demand.

I just got the update last week because my whole comand hard drive needed to be replaced. I love the changes.
First off, the minor details such as blue skies and starry night in birds eye view. There also seems to be more icons of what freeway you are on.
The biggest change is to the audio screen. There is a new INFO tab that allows you to see station, artist, and track without having to wait for it to slowly scroll in the middle of the screen. Also the track name is always given underneath the station selected (does that make sense?). Then you have the BOOST function for your aux jack that makes it louder so you dont have to turn up the volume in AUX.
no changes to the video menu
system menu is slightly different. When you click on it, you now get a big picture of an analog clock. Also it might be just me, but the backup camera seems to show up a lot quicker. Also I can now enable these stationary guide lines for the backup camera

Cool can you give more detail on how to phrase this for a SA? I want to get this covered but in the past my local dealer had been stingy, so want to get it right.

Part of it is being able to talk to people. Always be nice, even if they're not giving in, be nice. Be as firm as a granite table, but be nice.
I scheduled my service appointment online, received a call back, breifly explained the issue, and they set me up to come in.
I took two dozen donuts with me. I came in, saw the service manbager, and took them over to him. Told him that I am sure his crew would enjoy some fresh donuts, and handed them to him.
Then when I spoke with the SA, he already thought I was cool. I brought in donuts, and said good morning to everyone I had seen with a smile on my face.
I told them that the volume was intermittent and that a lot of the time I would start the car and the volume would be low, and wouldn't want to adjust. I said that I can have it turned up to a nice level, and when I get back in it is low. I also said that it happens with CD's and the music register. But since it is intermittent, I can't replicate the problem on demand.
He said okay and pulled my car into the service department.

I just told them what truly happens. Sometimes I get a phone call and the screen says Im connected but I have no sound in either the stereo or the phone and then its hard to disconnect. THAT is a known issue.

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if you knew how the COMAND was actually updated. I just installed a DIY backup camera, and was wondering if they go behind the head unit. If so, I think I'd have to remove my camera input, since they might be able to say that would void the head unit/COMAND warranty. Any thoughts?
Thx!

I told my SA that I keep having to turn up the volume to use the Aux input. But occasionally forget to turn it back down when switching to the radio. I voiced my concern that I may damage a speaker because of the sudden increase in volume. They did a COMAND update for me no questions asked. I also have the aftermarket rear camera and it was not a problem.
