My 2008 C300 Sport 4 Matic has a error message on the dash, it states left brake light is bad, when I went to check it out, all of the lights are on, I cleared the message in service menu, every time I re –start the car the error message appears again, any reasoning on why this is happening and is there a fix.

Check the electrical connector to the tail lamp. Check for corrosion and/or burnt contacts.

 

its a mercedes malfunction. everyones starting to have them (me as well). it might be possible you need to have your rear SAM replaced, you're looking to have 1400 dollars just to have it replaced

 

Think its your connector like B16 says. Its a 2008 issue.
They had replaced it by mine 2008 also and there are more members with this prob.

 

Can you please tell me what SAM stands for.

Do you think it is a bad connector? At first when the dash came up with an error message I went to change the bulb dark in color. I replaced with a new one when it came up with the same error. I went back to check the bulb I removed thinking because it was dark in color it was bad, well after checking it was just fine. Plug the connector in & out a few times thinking the same, possible some corrosion.

 

In 08 the common issue seems to be the connector is frayed to the rear tail, check it out. Its a pretty cheap fix, its not a rear sam in any ways shape or form.
