Awesome thread, could you try to snap some better pictures of the door sills? These are the first "cheaper" ones I have heard of being used. I am curious as to the quality of them. Perhaps some daylights pictures would be helpful?

but after install they look great and the rubber trim looks good and doesn't even bug me at all... and of course once the door open and u are blinded by super bright blue LEDs, its real bad ***...
the rear ones are tough to install because you have to bend them with curve of the rear door well... they are universal fit door sills that also fit the E class and a few other cars i think, hence why they are not sized exact...
but after a good cleaning with rubbing alcohol, the sills stuck down great with the supplied 3M doubled sided tape...

I just did mine last weekend. The only place to tap is at the lights in your footwells. The brown wire is the ground the aqua wire is the power. Just use the red add a crimps in the package to tap with, strip back some of the black fabric to u can go back 6" or so away from the light socket. There are 2 connectors per wire so u only need one connection on each side, took my less than 2 hours to do, ive done them before tho

and yes you remove the stock sills. Heat them up w a heat gun on the edge and then heat as you go w a small pry tool. YOU MUST TAPE OFF THE CAR WHERE YOU PRY FROM! u will gouge and peep your paint otherwise, dont worry about scratching under the sills, the new ones are slightly bigger. The rears u wanna bend where the mercedes emblem that glows is, its the easiest spot to bend them at

Just so peeps know most guys that install these jump power from the courtesy light on the bottom of your doors. If you go into the wiring harness at the bottom of each door hinge u can probe and find which wire controls the light and just add a tap for each sill. Then u need only a ground, the light is already fused by MB for you

you dont wanna use the footwells for a radar detector. Fish ur wires for that into the drivers footwell compartment. Remove the 3 screws that hold the plastic cover on that hides the under dash stuff. Above teh hood release is a spot u can fish thru to get into the engine bay. Go to autozone or wherever and get an "add a fuse" they will know what that is. On the drivers side theres is a small compartment that houses ur fuses under the hood with a feed on the side. Fish your hot there and use the add a fuse to tap the 30 amp fuse in there its halfway down on the passenger side, its the wiper feed. Its only switched w the key clicked forward, thats the best one to use for add ons. Theres a ground close to there as well or go under the dash. I will tell u this, if your not experienced doing this u may have problems. Alot of people think anything like radars and satellite radios are all 12volt units, they are NOT all 12v. Many plug into 12volts but actually use 5 or 7 or whatever volts. U must check the label to see what its actually using. Ive seen LOTS of guys blow their stuff up doing this exact thing hardwiring and they pay me to fix it. If your unit doesnt use 12v u must use a cigarette adapter w pigtails and wire that into a hardwire setup and then plug ur radar into that and tuck it under the dash, otherwise u need a resistor wired in and i doubt anyone on here could figure it out easily.......

Im lucky on this one in that my car is black and that rubber edge just disappears w the black paint. They look good Ive gotten compliments on them already. Id never spend 700+ on just 2 front sills, not worth it. I also have all my interior dome lighting w blue LEDs so I dot the blue sills and it goes real nice together, everyone is digging it

Illuminated Sills
Just purchased a set of White LED "Mercedes-Benz" illuminated sills from Jerry @ formymercedes.com
Was excellent to deal with and was only too happy to ship to Australia unlike a lot of other supplier. Prompt communication and willing to help attitude.
Can't wait to get them and install.

im part owner of a shop, i do this stuff all the time. Its not that hard to install, the wiring is easier than the sill installation. the kit has a wiring harness with it that makes it kinda easy. After sills are on each sill has a pigtail w 2wire connector. The car side harness is one long 8ft length w a opposing connector on the end, another connector about 4 feet up, and then 2 cut wire ends 4 foot up. U jump each pigtail into the harness and just tuck in under the sill behind the kick panel covers. Then drop the footwell top cover and tap the footwell lights. brown is ground aqua is hot, theres only 2 wires to the lights anyway, he gives u wire taps in the kit. took me 2 hours and I wasnt even trying to hurry. I would say 3 hour install w average experience.....ill post pics of mine too 2moro

I beleive they do come in blue or white. I got blue, but color matched my LED lighting. If i had regular LEDs I would go white. I like being different
