All W204s are 7g autos but the programming has changed on the newer ones new ones have a "blue efficiency" badge and have econ mode instead of comfort and it remaps the shifts and its just diff in the newer cars, not the trans itself.

The transmission is very much similar, but not exactly the same. It has been redesigned to use a different transmission fluid for lower friction.

They might drag out the old 272 for 4Matic only until W205 but it has been deleted otherwise. Do you guys call the M272 2.5 litre V6 a 250? In some markets it was called a 230. They never brought the 250 V6 to SA in the W204. They only sold the C280 (300) & C350 here.
