Adding screens that work with factory DVD player.

I have done a search and also researched a bunch and I seem to being finding some conflicting data.

I would like to add 4 more screens that will mate with the factory DVD player and allow me the opportunity to use the factory setup. I am in the process of turning my 2008 C300 to a show car and need some advice.

I have checked out the Midcity VIM and I am not sure if that will solve my problem. I could install a separate DVD player under the seat but I would prefer to use the factory one.

I did something similar in my last C230 but I installed a DVD player since the car did not have one and wired it through the AUX jack in the glove box so the sound would play through the factory speakers. I don't see an AUX jack in my C300 so I am looking for other options.

Thanks for the replies.

Old car was on a diffrent fiber optic system, new one is MOST I think, you would be hard pressed to get into that, unless you can find if it exist, a fiber optic splitter so you can read the signal off the dvd/cd unit.

I didn't deal with a single piece of fiber optics with the last car.

Can I use a fakra adapter to make this work. I have the HK sound in my new car.

Thanks

there is a harness available ive seen around, it offers multiple outputs, I beleive midcity has one. The video is NOT fiber optic, MOST is in non-HK systems as well, not sure about audio20 but for SURE in audio50 systems w MM screen. You can then take this and send it to auxilary video sources

Thanks for the info. I sent midcity an email, hopefully they will chime in and help me out.

if your last C230 was a W203 then there was very much fiber optics involved if it was a W202 then your right no, there wouldn't have been any.

Also both systems Audio 20 and command use MOST fiber optics and your stereo will not work unless the chain is continuos and all of the items on the chain are programmed in. You will most likely need a dealer visit to have it programmed for the add on devices unless the splitter works without causing any issue to things further down the line

Nick is right.. the 2005-2007 W203s were also on MOST and there definitely was fiber optic involved. The pre-facelift W203 was D2B.

I never had to mess with anything fiber optic. I purchased a iPod cord that connected to the harness in the passenger front footwell. I then used a splitter so I could have the DVD player and iPod connected at the same time. This allowed the movie sound to play through my factory speakers. I never even took the head unit out of the dashboard.

I used a hi-low adapter to connect my amp & subs in the trunk and hooked it to the rear door speaker wires.

I guess I never realized it was fiber optic because I had the basic head unit in the car.

Midcity has offered me a solution that will allow 4 more screens to play off of the factory DVD player and I can still add my backup camera. I will have the VIM as well but I do not plan on using it, I just want to be able to have the other screens playing the same movie as the screen in the dashboard.

I am going to order everything next week and I will let people know how it goes.
