Can these speakers be installed by the dealership or is it something that should've been done at the factory? I'm looking to upgrade the sound and wanted to stay factory.
Thanks

It can be done by the dealer but you might not like the cost of the retrofit.

Or you can try DIY. Here's the link to get you started. https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...r-upgrade.html

I'm not really good at installing things like this...with the amount of money that would be spent on the HK's and the installation at the dealership, would you guys recommend getting a better set of speakers but having my local sound/custom shop install it? I just don't know how these cars are set up and if the wiring shouldn't be messed with unless its from MB.

its almost impossible to install the HK system afterwards. I had HK and non HK ssystems in my C and my new one has a full custom stereo setup. I couldnt get a fully loaded car w it so I went aftermarket stereo. Its a worthwhile option new, afterwards forget it. My setup sounds better than HK system, but I changed all speakers, 2 amps, and a DSP processor and subs. about 2k worth of equipment and days of labor by me. A shop would have wanted $$ big bucks for this install. depends on what you want out of your stereo. U can get decent sound w a selfpowered sub setup and new door speakers....

Agreed with the above. From the factory, the HK option is a great deal since it's cheap relative to performance and being OEM, it just works. However it is very poor value if you attempt to DIY or get it installed somehow- you're better off going aftermarket. Just get a sound processor which can take OEM inputs, install your own set of amplifiers, and get better speakers/subwoofers/etc. You may not have as many speakers in number, but installing them in good locations and spending some money on both quality components and good tuning will get you far better results for what it would cost you to attempt to install the HK system.
