rolling on mismatched width rims

Hi all,

Picked up my used 2010 C300 Sport 4matic in mid-October from the local dealership and it was all rosy. Purchased a set of Blizzaks and took it down to my friend's shop to mount on the stock rims a couple weeks ago.

To our surprise we discovered that I had three 17x7.5 rims and a sole 17x8.5 rim on the rear passenger side. We double and triple-checked all the rims just to make sure we weren't crazy...we even checked the spare tire.

Brought my car in to the dealership today and they inspected the rims. They said they would order a new rim and contact me when it's in. I feared that since this was a used C300 they would tell me I was SOL.

Good to know MB treats their customers well...even those of us who purchased second-hand.

The only bad thing was the ****-poor car wash...the lower half of the passenger side and the rear bumper are still very dirty lol

With one rear wheel that's 8.5" and the other 7.5" would it cause any issues with the 4matic or anything else?

No. The only thing that would affect a awd drivetrain is the overall circumference of the tires. They have to be the same all around or you blow diffs

Sounds like dealer is getting wheel/tire for free? Nice.

What size did dealer order?

You may well have a choice now, to get away from staggered wheels, if dealer orders another front wheel/tire. Benefit is you can do the prefered cross rotate for even wear, and if you don't have winter wheels, narrower tires/wheels in rear give better winter traction.

The 2008 Lux 4MATIC, non-staggered, handled 4" of virgin snow with little effort.

The dealer ordered an 8.5". I will probably keep the stock rims as my winter set and get a set of 18's for spring/summer.
