I watched 3 techs at my dealership trying to hide mine from me. I received the same message and was unable to locate the unlit bulb. When I told my service rep, he said they fix it right away since it is a safety issue. I went in back to get coffee, and when I came back out, 3 of them were at my trunk messing around with the connectors. When I asked what they were doing, they said it was a common issue and the connectors just needed to be re-inserted. I made sure they noted it on my service record just in case I had future issues.

That happend to my C200 an also to my aunt's cars(C350). I noticed the taillight blinking. I open to see and one of the wires of the base where the bulbs are seated was burned. I told the dealer and they replaced both of tailamps base including the one that did not have any problems under warranty at no cost. My aunt was'nt that lucky beacuse the warranty was expired. It seems to be a very common problem.

same issue
please forgive me if i'm posting in the wrong area, as i'm not familiar with these forums. i'm having the same issue with my 2012 right rear turn signal and my car is brand new. the light will flash rapidly and i'll get an error message stating i should "check rear turn signal". this has happened to me six times now. been to dealer once and was informed they were unable to duplicate issue and sent me on my way. the next time this happened i shot a video of the error and blinking with my phone and showed this to them. now they claim a new bulb panel (or something like that) has been ordered and will be replacing the current (defective) unit. so, i hope this resolves the matter. i'm also hearing a noise/crackle/static from the front right speaker, and during all media listening. i don't hear this sound all the time...just from time to time. has anyone else heard this? again, sorry if i'm posting in the wrong area.

So I had a similar issue idk if it will help you guys but a friend who was driving behind me noticed that the driver tail light was dimmed and so I checked it and where all the different color wires are connected to the black piece the clips into the tail light assembly, the black piece was alittle melted and one of the wires was melted too and was not allowing the full output to the tail light. So I brought my car to the dealership and this is what they put on my invoice "Overheated terminals ground side inspect. Replaced left and right tail lamp connectors and ground wires, replaced bulb holder Assy, clear stored codes" (1 lamp support 204-820-0277)(1 lamp support 204-820-01-77)(2 plug 211-545-03-28)(2 cable harnes 000-540-38-05)(2 cable connec 002-546-13-41)

That happened to me last week
I took my car to dealer and they charged me $80 for replacing four bulbs...
The bulb only cost 4 x $8 but the labor cost the rest!! (what!! do you know how easy it is to replace bulbs???)
you should just order those bulbs online and replace them yourself, it will save you lots of money!! I should check it before I go

The problem is not the bulbs. It is the wiring harness. You also need to be careful with the harness on your headlights. The leads off of the harness are inside the headlight assembly and have the potential to touch the backside of the reflector. This can cause the coating on the wire to melt.

I didn't even take delivery and already know that I'm done with MB. I ordered one thinking it was a step up in quality but these forums have more complaints than ford forums by a LOT! Guess $$ doesn't equal quality.

I wouldn't say that. Compare the number of units sold to the number of members complaints. I guarantee you have more complaints about FORD (Fix Or Repair Daily). I do think FORD is making a decent comeback. I want the 2013 Fusion/Mondeo (the Baby Aston Martin).

Believe me, I hope you're right! I have two Ford trucks (2000 and 2001) with 140K miles and 167K miles with nearly no problems. The 2001 just started having a rear main seal leak and had to have a water line (crossing under the intake) replaced. Otherwise they've been problem free. I have two Mustangs ('72 Mach 1 and '98 Cobra) that haven't had any issues either. I ordered the Mercedes because I always assumed it was a very fine/well engineered vehicle. As for member complaints, Ford sells a lot more than MB and I see a lot less complaints.
Anyhow, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer and certainly hope you're right! I guess the latest thread on the DI issue just pushed me over the edge....
Oh, and you spelled First On Race Day wrong. ;-)

had this issue too on my '08 c300. the problem was intermittent for me, but the burnt harness was very obvious. dealer replaced harness under warranty.
if i had to choose one defect to have on a car, i would choose this one. easy and cheap.
havent had any issues besides that.
