Locking 'S' mode into 2012 C300
I recently purchased a 2012 C300 sport, I can change the drive from S or E (button next to gear shift), in this 2012 C300 each time I start the car it defaults back to E, even though when I last drove the car I had it in S mode. I traded in my 2009 C300 sport for this car, in the 2009, the mode (S or E) would stay until you switched it. So I basically never touched the button since I always used it in S mode. The 2012 model does not retain this setting. I've looked all over the owners manual and can't seem to fine anyway to lock it in S mode. Does anyone know how to get the car to stay in S mode? Thanks.

Starting in 2010, the W204 (at least in the US) defaults to E. I just had this conversation with my boss yesterday while in his 2010 C300. It can't be changed.

Going from my 08 to my 11 I noticed the same thing and it makes me crazy. On the plus side on my 08 the screen in the center of the dashboard always went back to the odometer and I always had to change to the speed display. Now on my 11 it says where I left it last.

I noticed this with the loaners I got. That's what we get for big government getting involved. They are forcing us to be "greener". Gonna hold on to the '08 for as long as possible!!!

Yeah, this is annoying, I am going to bring this up to some contacts at MBUSA. I had a 2009 before, and didn't realize how annoying it was until I upgraded to a new 2012.

This is annoying to me as well. I've read everything about the differences between S & E, and it just doesn't seem like it makes much of a difference to me. But maybe that's because the roads have been snow-packed since I got the car. In the spring I might find S to be more of what I'm looking for....
