I checked with a few other gps screen, they all have the same specs. I think they all come from the same factory... as long as the backup camera works, then I will be real happy.
I also try to get TomTom loaded into the GPS.. since it is running wince.. should be able to.

im posting here here too see how this works out, i was about to buy the same unit on this site... http://www.carstumfit.co.za/w204.html but decided to look it up a bit first, because I saw used oem units selling for $900+ and this one for $555 seemed a bit odd
i only want to upgrade the system so i can have a2dp from my phone, and i guess the rear view camera would be nice

Most of these systems are made in (or contain subsystems that are made in) China. But it's absolutely true that the quality is hit and miss. Some factories are very high quality (like the ones that make apple products) and others make stuff that should be thought of as disposable. I have MM (factory installed) in mine.
My company designs and makes the GPS chip in the MM unit. In fact, I'm responsible for the GPS chip that is inside the MM unit, so it holds a special place in my heart.
That said, the COMMAND unit has a much nicer screen and interface. The interface aside, the MM GPS chip actually has better performance, but I won't bore you on why...

I most certainly understand why you like the MM unit.. I would too if I am responsible for the chip.. let's see how the unit works when I get it..

FYI, I asked jewellet.com to send me a picture of what comes in the box. Attached is that picture. It comes with the screen + dvd player box + navi box. It does not replace your head unit. So basically, you have to install the dvd box and navi box into your glove compartment. The kicker is that the navigation does not use OEM antenna or speakers. There's a seperate external speaker (red circle thingy in the second attached picture)! I decided not to get this product because of this. Just saying you should probably double check before ordering.

This is one reason why buying a car that is so over engineered is annoying sometimes. It's not like you an just go to any place you want, buy what you want, and then take it home and install it all. I wish I could because I would have done that already.

Who else did the Chinese install?
Kindly give a feedback on it. One year after.
Changed jobs and now I drive 200km a day, the radio and CD player sucks majorly.
