AfterMarket Nav+touchscreen upgrade found

Hi all,

Ever since I got my w204, I've been looking for a way to retain the stock look but upgrade my screen and it's functions. I did not opt for the COMAND unit so I have the stock 5' screen with Audio 20. I always thought the screen was utterly useless and wished there was a way to get navigation+touchscreen+higher res+backup camera. I have read many posts on here where some of the things mentioned above could be done but not all at once. UMI or NAV+4 was an option but the price was not.

Today, I stumbled upon this:
http://www.szjewellet.com/Benz-W204-...igation-System

What do you guys (and ladies) think?

It definitely looks interesting. And it even says it will retain the comand knob and steering wheel functions. Its probably not as good quality wise as the comand system, but heck, for just over $600 I think it is a GREAT deal. Especially considering all of the factory functions are retained. I would try it out. (If I didn't get a 2012 that already has comand!) lol.

I am very interested in this as well. I have a question into my buddy who works at a local dealership to see if he can get some details. Please let me know if you find any other information on this.

I'm trying to research the company. All i know is that it's a chinese company. I know everything is made in china but I don't to spend $600 and go through a hassle to get the money back. But if they are able to deliver...this is pretty perfect.

Let me know what you find.

Is that a reset hole on the front of it, for a paper clip? I hope not because that would make me extremely weary about it. Most of these products are utter garbage (based on the reviews I've seen from the W203 knockoff COMAND upgrades).

Hopefully you can find an unbiased review - if it's a legit quality product then it sounds very awesome.

For what it is worth, those look like fake reviews from the company meant to answer questions and make it look like "reviews". If you look, each one is near a 5 star rating, and the people are asking questions under "reviews". IMO, it sounds like chinese garbage and they are trying to promote it as good and near OEM. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. But if anyone does try it out, DEFINITELY give your review of it.

I have MM so no bias here. I am weary about the reset hole, and if you look carefully the ad says SD/XD and USB slots. I see nothing in the picture. Im assuming its behind the unit maybe. Anyway if anyone orders one take pics and post them. This is an easy install tho, both sections pop out in 2 min and if its plug and play this should be 15 min install time

I have MM as well love it! I just hate the color scheme looks like OLD fart (tan/brown)... haha but this looks good if my comand ever breaks and I wanted to go aftermarket with more features. Someone should give this a shot!

I noticed that too. It seems sketchy. However, other countries (Asia particularly) do this all the time. They have shops that constantly take out the OEM system and add on features and new systems while making it look like or close to the OEM system. These shops all get their stuff from China. I'm not saying this company is reliable but I'm also saying that these Chinese factory direct products might be worth it if you don't care about after purchase service from the company.

I just hope somoene gives it a shot. I will mull over this for a few months as I have been looking for this for a while. If anyone knows a US company that can do something like this, please tell. I must say I have not had much luck looking for a product (or products from different companies) that can do all this.

Anyone here install aftermarket navi or (touch)screens? If so, could you post some pics and specs?

If you ask why I dind't get an MM, it's because I was looking for a stick shift and those were all bare bone stock with no options. Plus I didn't want to pay for options I didn't like in a package since MB will not let you choose individual options.

I highly doubt there will be one. So, better give the Chinese a try. Quality will definitely be a hit and miss, but maybe you'll get lucky.

Then again, if navigation is the only thing you really need, why not just settle with a Garmin, TomTom etc.? Probably will be much cheaper and more reliable in the end than the one from szjewellet.

Either way, good luck!

You can change the color to black and ( night mode ) in your settings . Looks much better IMO but it would have been nice is Merc added a few more color schemes .

True...but then there's touch screen, higher res, rear cameras steering wheel functions, MP3 CDs, etc.

I have yet to find a solution to get all this and make the damn screen actually be useful. If there were parts to make the car go faster (and not just look better) I'd be working on those, but those seem to be equally scarce. What is with the lack of parts for W204?

Sigh...I'll just have to dream of the day I can get a C63 AMG.

Please post a thorough review and photos of the back of the unit too! I'm very interested to hear if this thing is junk or not - call it morbid curiosity!

Thanks ST for doing this. I look forward to seeing your install and hearing how everything works.

On a side note, I contacted jewellet.com for info on their product. Here's what I got. Aslo, attached is the installation manual .jpg they sent me. Their website says that paypal gaurentee could be applied so that you don't have to worry about getting your money back.

Questions asked:
What is the Analog TV Antenna for?
What brand of maps do you install for US?
What brand do you use for Rear Camera?
What happens if there is a problem with the product after I receive it?
How long does it take for delivery?
Do I get shipping confirmation with a tracking number?

Answers from jewellet.com:
Hello sir,
Have a good day!
Thank you for interested in our Benz W204 Navigation, the attached is the installation manual for your refference, please check that.
For the questions you have mentioned, the following are our answers:
1. analog TV antenna is using to receive the TV signal. (I'm still not sure how this is needed if a ATSC Tuner can be added as an option)
2. we install the Igo map.
3. we use the universal camera without brand
4. you can return the unit to us for full refund, or we can change a new one for you.
5. it usually takes about 5-7 days.
6. Yes, we will send the tracking NO. to you.
if you have any further questions, please let me know.
Best Regards,
Jarek

I checked with a few other gps screen, they all have the same specs. I think they all come from the same factory... as long as the backup camera works, then I will be real happy.
I also try to get TomTom loaded into the GPS.. since it is running wince.. should be able to.
