C63 Steering wheel w/ functioning paddle shifters

ok the steering wheel was one of my favorite parts of the C63, and i want to put one on my C300, but I want to make the paddle shifters work. is this possible? has anyone done it? Not that I'll probably ever use the shifters but I don't want to have none functioning shifters on the steering.

Did your car have paddles shifters before?

its very hard and expensive to do. If you didnt have paddles before the whole cars computer has to be reflashed and u need new steering column wiring harness and stuff. I have paddles and my car has sport button on dash and the button next to shifter is M only, different setup when u have paddles, its a suspension setup too thats part of dynamic handling package

Agreed with Jimmy. If I were you I wouldn't waste my time worrying about the paddles. A guy on here had them removed and filled on his steering wheel.

I had my paddle's removed and covered with leather by the seller. I'm fine without them.

Did you use the same airbag that you had, or bought it with the new steering wheel

No, the stock airbag is too long to fit properly. I ordered mine with the proper fitting airbag. The 1st and best mod I've done. The big "grandma" wheel had to go.

Why would you need a new wiring harness? (Genuine question btw...)

The paddles' functionality is already coded in the computer (I could see the computer acknowledging the paddles being pressed through Star diagnostic). No you don't have to re-flash the computer, but you do need master access to the computer to unlock the paddle shifting routines. That particular access is very uncommon outside of Germany(since it also lets you change the speed limiter of the car and other country-specific settings), so the chances of being able to accomplish it are low, but not impossible.

Just my $0.02
