Remove The Chrome Trim On Bottom

Hey guys, has anyone removed the chrome trim that sits at the bottom of the doors on a 2011 C300? I think it looks stupid, but don't want to try to removed it and find out it is more of a project than just peeling them off..

Thanks all for any advice...

Removed the strips the first day I had the car. Used dental floss.

Fishing line works well too after a medium heat-up!

what temperature should not be exceeded with the heat gun? my heat gun only goes 750 or 1000 degrees F and I dont want to damage the paint...

finally going to do this only because I added the black bullit style tail trims which don't mesh well with the chrome...

I don't know about an exact setting would be, but I used a hairdryer on high a few seconds in each section as I "sawed" with the floss.
BTW- about damn time!

i just took mine off.. didn't need to heat it.. just fishing line.. 20lb test line.. used 8lb too but kept breaking.. cut the adhesive in half.. the part left on car just pulled right off and rolls up like boogers.. yeah you know.. don't act like you don't..

no residue on car.. just a quick wipe with damp cloth to clean up the outline of dirt

those that used heat gun, is it possible to damage the paint if set too high?

Simple physics tells me yes you can melt it off your car into a puddle on the floor

Definitely! Being that people can do it with a hair dryer, definitely be careful with a heat gun. Heat it up just a little at a time and then try. Then heat it up more if needed. Don't try to get it REAL hot all at once.
