And also, sorry for not introducing myself first before I posted my question about the Transmission fluid flush!
Hey everyone,
I just recently became an owner of a 2008 c300 sport. The car is Capri blue with a black leather/aluminum interior. I joined the forum not too long ago and I apologize for not introducing myself sooner. I look forward to getting to know everyone in this forum and utilizing the threads to improve/maintain my car.
I've just recently added HIDs using the 5000k Morimoto 5Fives kit. I hope to change the eyelids to white bulbs as well to match. I hope to tint the car's rear windows to 20-25% in the coming weeks, but I'm still deciding on the % to tint the front since I live in California and don't want to deal with the cops.
I'm open to any suggestions in other possible mods and methods in maintaining the car! Thanks everyone!
Domm
P.S. I'll post pictures sometime next week when it stops raining here in the Bay Area.

I searched, and believe not only in CA but in many other states, tint in the front side windows are not allowed. Not only that, my co-worker saw a lady with a suction cup type of sunshade on the front driver side window got pulled over and received a ticket.

Thanks everyone. I think the front windows are allowed to be tinted, at darkest, 70%. I was thinking of maybe pushing it closer to 45% and hoping that the difference in shade, compared to the rear windows, will be enough to deter the cops. Its just an idea though. I'm going to talk to the tint shop soon to see what they recommend.

Can I put after-market tinting on the windows of my vehicle?
The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:
My co-worker bought a used BMW with front windows already tinted, not really dark tint. He got pulled over for that a few times. Now he is trying to remove it using goo-gone but didn't work.
The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:
- The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
- If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.

Thanks for the information C300CA. I was looking through the DMV of CA website at Section 26708 and read that:
(2) The window glazing with the material applied meets all requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 205 (49 C.F.R. 571.205), including the specified minimum light transmittance of 70 percent and the abrasion resistance of AS-14 glazing, as specified in that federal standard.
The different opinions of people from other threads about tinting that I have read may have misinterpreted this law. The 70% minimum light transmittance only applies to, and I quote this from DMV of CA, "(a), clear, colorless, and transparent material" used to reflect UV rays. It does not apply to dark aftermarket tints.
Are you sure that your co-worker's tints aren't from factory tinting? From my understanding, factory tints are extremely light and completely legal. They cannot be removed because they are apart of the glass-making process.
