From what I understand, the only changes to the one I have will be the improved projectors. Any other improvements will have to be done yourself or by your body shop. I'll probably be opening mine up and putting my own touches on it in the future.

You have a point there, however I assumed maybe he will get to test fit them before that and the 4-8 weeks was when we get ours

Yeah, if I would have known halfway into the group buy that they were going to decide to fit upgraded projectors, I would have held off on hosting the group buy so there wouldn't be such a long delay between close of GB and actual shipment. I think the test fit is more just quality control formalities as they won't be changing the housing structure so should fit just fine. Will update everyone with details and pics when I have any for you.

Well, we're 3 weeks since last update and I believe they said 4-8 weeks till they get shipment in. I know patience is hard, but it's not idle time wasted as better quality projectors can make a huge difference.

Sorry, all spots have since been filled. You'll have to wait for public sale.

From what I understand. There will be others posting the headlights, but none have any in stock (and if they did, it'd be the old projectors I currently have on) and ship directly from manufacturer who won't be able to fulfill the order till they finish retrofitting and even then, first batch will be going out to us.

If they are indeed the exact same, then it'll be good to know why the wait - maybe the ones on the protuninglab site might not actually ship in the time they state perhaps?

I'd also like to know if I can upgrade to the HID version too as I have the regular factory non-HID lights currently and would love to go to HID.

I emailed a few vendors. They told me they have it in stock ready to ship....... (now if they are all lying or its a drop ship still, I have no idea)

Reguardless and lets say they did have the ones in stock with the old projector when we were offered the deal before it was still not really a deal to begin with? and if they didnt have them in stock they are still offering this price, which has been seen on ebay as well (which we were told was incorrect pricing, how can this many vendors have incorrect pricing?).

If Spyder is retrofitting the new projectors than that means we can still buy from another vendor without the group buy later on and it wouldnt have been a huge savings anyways?

Spyder seems shady with pricing that changes depending on ebay/forums/customer input and emailing responses (late/lagged) since this groupbuy was started... I just wanted to show some concern... we all just want to be treated fair with a group buy that should be a good deal...

$305 is a good price but it took 26+ of us to get it...
$388 with HID kit... minus the KIT from DDM is $50bucks ... we are only saving $30~bucks

I would have bought online already instead of waiting 6weeks and payed a extra 30~ if we knew this eariler =/.

Valid points. As I'm not dealing with Sonar directly, I can't comment, but all I can say is SPYDER is a legit company and Ray has been pretty honest and upfront with me. One thing to consider was at the time, they were first to market and had the luxury to dictate pricing. Market saturation will always eventually bring prices down, but due to the size of SPYDER, they have higher overhead than some of the smaller vendors so might not be able to make as much of a discount. However, due to the size of SPYDER, they have more weight to throw around with Sonar with regards to changes and redesigns (such as the projector retrofit we're going through now). I kind of suspected that more kits would be eventually filtered out to other vendors Sonar deals with as it doesn't make sense for them to hold an entire assembly line if they have lots of products in stock and only one vendor (SPYDER) is requesting higher end projectors. So yes, as time progresses, the discount might shrink or expand as the market dictates, but also consider that we'll be getting a better quality product than the rest as well as a bonus. Now, the unknown is how much of a delta the new and old projector will be and I don't have an answer for you on that till I get my hands on them, but if it was just a slight marginal improvement, I doubt SPYDER and Sonar would be going through all this effort.

They doesn't deal in HID kits, but being in the industry, I'm sure they have vendors they can work with to get a kit throw in with your headlights. You're probably better off just purchasing your own HID kit directly though and cut out the middle man. We have HID vendors here on MBWorld who will be able to help you out.

^ I sent ray a 2nd email asking for confirmation and he got back to me quick. Nothing as of yet, I think it was decided April 2nd that the group preferred the retrofit so we still have a couple weeks to go in terms of the 8 week maximum period. I just want them now!!!

If you didn't get any email from Ray, resend the email to him. He sent a large group email I believe to everyone he had collected information on.
