How much do you pay for Brake fluid flush

Hi Folks,

I live in Boston area and the local dealer is charging $109+taxes for a brake flush. Just wanted to check if this is a resonable amount or should I look around.
I checked an indy shop as well, they actually charge more but said they'll match the dealer price.

I got it done yesterday from Natick mercedes. Shrewsbury Mercedes had a special $109 for brake fluid flush so Natick matched it.
In my experience MB westwood is good for sale and MB Natick for service and bad vice-versa.
FYI, dont know if know about the best MB indy shop in New England area EAS (European Auto Solutions) in Waltham, I take my business there for other stuff.

Only the cost of premium brake fluid. I do it myself on all of my cars using a pressure bleeder. Every 90 days on the Porsche, and 1 year on the others.

Why that often? Brake fluid absorbs humidity at a rate which suggests about every two years. Are you racing?

Mine was changed just this week at 33K miles and a bit over two years (2nd change) and the cost was $102.65. Labor $84 (.6) and parts $18.65. Plus tax.

I'm satisfied.

ditto. Wouldn't dream of paying someone to replace my brake fluid...which stealerships think needs to be done WAY too often.

Racing? Well, sort-of! DEing, which is a controlled "High Speed Drivers Ed". I'm on a track going flat out I need confidence that I will go from nearly 140 to 70 in order to make the "bus stop" at Watkins Glen. Not bad for a 62 year old in a 20 year old car.

Kevink2 - was your post aimed at me???

It's the manufacturer of your car that says every two years. Read your manual. Changing it on schedule avoids expensive repairs later on.

Correct. I was more referring to when dealers have tried saying that calipers need to be replaced...and then "if you replace one, you should replace all...or at least in pairs" and then there's another fluid change to go with it. Most of the people I know go to their dealership for service. And they've all been talked into buying rotors and calipers far too often. My two trucks have a combined 300K miles and 23 years and the original brake fluid is still fine. Although the 2001 will be getting a fluid change this summer. And if you do work yourself, no part of the braking system is all the expensive. At least not for the vehicles I've owned to date....haven't priced any MB parts.

I should add that brake fluid is certainly critical to your vehicle and I wouldn't recommend that others wait as long as I have. It's been more of an experiment for me being that I've been having the fluids in my vehicles tested by a metallurgist who has access to electron microscopes and other testing machines. But now that I no longer have that access I will be replacing the fluid as mentioned because I realize that the low moisture content and current stability of the fluid can't possibly last forever. Either I've been lucky, or Ford's braking system is remarkable.
