MY BUILD THREAD - 2012 C300 4Matic - Purchased January 19, 2012
TELL ME WHAT U GUYS THINK =]
New to the mercedes game all though my parents have had three in the past 8 years. New to the C-class game all together. Especially the 2012, which as many of you may know has LITTLE and almost no available after market upgrades.
I need some help, what else should I do to the car! -
In need of a MUCH brighter light package since its my first car my parents did not opt for the lighting package
In need of a stereo upgrade--also no P1 package
Have the multimedia package so no need for anything that comes with that, and also have the backup camera, etc...
What other EXTERIOR upgrades and interior should I add?
ALL inputs are welcome!!! constructive criticism as well pls =]
PICS POSTED IN A COUPLE OF MINUTES

After you look around I think you'll find there are a fair share of upgrades. Performance upgrades are scarce but you'll find many aesthetic things you can mod and add. Also a pretty strong community here on the forums.
You can get a good HID kit from AZN optics, a light company supported a lot here on the forums:
http://aznoptics.com/index.php?main_...products_id=10
If you wanna make it unique, I would consider upgrading your grill to maybe the new C63 single bar grill, good grills come from here:
http://www.55tech.com/index.php?main...cPath=65_68_90
The Xpipe is a cheap and easy exhaust mod that adds a lot of great sound to the car, I believe its under $200, here's a good video of the sound:
Otherwise get some tints, nice 18" wheels, a trunk spoiler and whatever else you want to make it your own
My 2008 C300 is my first car and I wouldn't want anything else, you made the right choice.
by the way, what part of LI are you? I'm in Huntington.
Can't want to see the pics!

Congrats on the C! They're awesome. It's cool you didn't go for the run of the mill A4 or 3 series.

I'll be the first to say the obvious - take off the headlight chrome things and then either remove the tail light trim or paint i black.
Next get a new grill (I hear the old ones fit) So you could get the '12 c63 style grill off ebay. that would look killer

My advice: Take off chrome from headlights, tail lights, and pillars. And while you're at it, take off the door trim, too. You can leave the chrome on the grille, windows, trunk, DRL's and muffler tips for some contrast against the black since it seems like you like chrome. Then I'd paint the grille slats black.
After that, HID's, tint, and an x-pipe, and you're all good to go!
I don't know if anything's out for the 2012 side markers, but get rid of those, too.

Hey everybody... thanks for the input, i actually like the chrome on the front end, but was never too sure about the chrome on the back and pillars ... How should I go about removing the chrome without causing any damage?
#12
I know it's all a matter of taste, but I would take off all of the add-on chrome (door pillars, head and tail light trim). Your car doesn't need that stuff to make it look nice, it already looks awesome without it.
I would also consider removing the chrome strip on the lower doors. To me it just seems like an unnecessary leftover from the luxury model. If the new coupe and the C63 doesn't have it, I don't want it in my sport sedan. I was hesitant to do it, but I'm so glad I did. Again it's all a matter of taste.
Did you debage it? Or was it the dealer?

Yea im gonna get to that soon, I'm just not sure on how to go about it without scratching the car, as i already damaged part of the plastic door pillar underneath the chrome while putting it on. I will look into removing the chrome strip on the lower doors and do you have any pictures of yours? And as for the debadging, I did that myself on the second day I had the car, does anybody think I should put the emblems back on? ...
However, I think it looks really clean without the emblems so I would just leave it the way it is. A lot of W204 owners on here like to debadge their cars, I just can't bring my self to do it as I know I will never get it right again if I ever wanted to put them back.
All I can say is be careful with your car, don't do anything on a whim that isn't reversible.

yeah.. i personally like the chrome around the windows and i like the lower trim. i think it accentuates the 'line' of the profile. without it, you kind of lose the shape.
All the additional chrome looks silly though, you should put it on www.mexico.ebay.com and you'll probably have an inbox full of questions with people wondering if it will fit on their 92 Honda Civics

side markers you can get from ebay, i have the depo brand ones
19in rim or 18in rims doesnt matter, up to your preference
roof spoiler, ebay or jb speed
blacked out tail lights? i would do the reverse strip with film since you have the 12 tailights
blacked out head lights? dont do imo
interior changes? trim you can get wrapped basically what ever color you want
sound system upgrades? search that
HID? i think azn sells them on here
quad exhuast and diffuser? diffuser you can get on ebay or jb speed, you need brackets as well part number (204-885-23-14 204-885-24-14). u can by c300 tips, part number ( 204-490-63-27 204-490-64-27)
rebadge? i would not
side vents? ebay if you really want to
tint? i have 20% at night if i wanna reverse out of somewhere i need to roll down my windows.
hope this helps

Rims and a drop with a 20% tint is as far as I would go.
It's a really nice car. I wish my parents bought me one when I was younger. Not trying to give you a hard time, but you have an excellent automobile.
There is not a big aftermarket for it. If you spend some time in the C63 sub, you will get an irritating itch to try and make it something that it is not.
The warranty on it is VERY important. If you grenade it with aftermarket, your parents will go through the roof on the cost of the repairs and the I can guarantee a discerning look from a MB service advisor when asking if the warranty will cover it.

For max comfort and wheel durability, stay with oem 17's. There may be 17" MB AMG's (or replicas) available in 17".

Personally, i still love the older style C63 rims...
If money were no object, I would do these additional things:
- OEM set of C63 wheels/tires
- H&R Coilovers so i could adjust the ride height to my specific tastes (not slammed) just barely noticeable
- Quad tips, oem c63 diffuser
- 20% tint
- oh yeah, NEW GRILLE! I really want to see one of you guys with a '12 buy this grill and put it on.
