Comand knob problem
1. This Aluminum replacement seems to cause more resistance as I believe it should or is this just in my head?
2. I scratched the ring that comes off when you remove the knob off of the controller. Does anyone know if that's a piece that is replaceable by itself?

There is a seller in USA who also offers an upgraded aluminium shaft.
Attached is a helpful PDF file on how to do the replacement.
They have it on Amazon Prime too

JUST FOLLOW THE WIRE AND UNHOOK IT FROM THE SIDE PASSENGER CARPET AS SHOWN IN THIS CLIP
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE GEARBOX... JUST FOLLOW THE CABLE..IT WOULDN'T MAKE SENSE TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE GEAR BOX JUST TO GET TOT THE CABLE
DO NOT TRY TO GLUE THE OLD HAFT IT WILL JUST BREAK AGAIN

This might save someone a lot of time???
Just in case some of you have had the problem I have for over a month now. I have searched and googled, been to an auto electrician. Mercedes quoted $2000 to repair.
I checked all of the fuse information and everyone is all about numbers 26,28, 84 but NO ONE mentioned fuse number 11. I checked every fuse in the car and number 11 was the last one and yes it was the culprit
I had radio, cd everything worked except the Command knob. I have the upgraded screen in my car from DMP car design in Malaysia and I will say Daniel is a very patient man and did everything he could but it was nothing to do with his system.

I watched several videos trying to find the most detailed step by step. Looks easy but when I started I found some step is not so straightforward.
I'd call the plastic shaft a design error; the cross-section at break point shows there is very little plastic area.
