Blind Spot
My '09 C300 does not have the blind spot warning indicator (I think it's called that) so I'm thinking about putting a small curved "blind spot mirror" on my driver side mirror, but I cannot find something that is attractive and will not make the car look bad.
Does anybody here uses one of these? Would you post a picture and let me know where you got it? There has got to be something decent looking out there I can use without "defiling" the car look.

Funny thing actually. I had a SAAB rental car a week ago and it had those mirrors. They were decently useful I suppose, but nothing beats turning your head back for half a second to check for sure.

I really hope nobody takes this the wrong way. With all due respect to all driver, those little round mirrors people attach to the main driver side mirror seem to appear mainly on cars driven by much older people. I am going in that direction (getting old-er) I know, but just not now yet.
I don't think what I'm looking for really exist, and snarlingchicken's idea might be the best...but I'll continue looking. "One never know, do he?"

I actually think its a pretty good idea, not as a substitute to looking over your shoulder, but as an additional point of view for safety. I find it beneficial knowing the location of all cars around me because I just can't trust other drivers and absolutely hate when people hover around my blind spot.

Most people don't know how to adjust their mirrors. I was guilty of this for YEARS. Now I need to relearn NOT looking over my shoulder. Following this has eliminated any/all blind spots. http://www.linquist.net/motorsports/tech/mirrors/

That was an interesting article, but I found the discussion that followed it, hilarious. Why do people go out of their way to just insult somebody, is beyond me.
When I adjust my side mirrors, I do so I barely see any part of my car. I wonder what would I see if I turned them further out. As you said, it is tough to "unlearn" something you have been doing for many years.

Actually, there were _some_ good comments (rearview mirror filled by large vehicle / travel direction with 3+ lanes / etc.)
But yea, for the most part people take driving comments personally. Can't recall the line but it's something like 90% of drivers think they're above average drivers...
I'm not saying that this works for everyone for every vehicle, but after driving for 25 years, including racing at tracks, it wasn't until recently that I learned this. I was reluctant to change but I gave it a shot and am amazed. My cars/trucks have ZERO blind spots. But, the mirrors no longer offer value when backing up/parking along curbs/etc...so I'm not saying they shouldn't be changed based on what you need them for.
The hardest part of adjustment for me is the feeling that as a car is passing me on the left it feels like they are REAL close to me (perspective change that I need to adjust to.)
Anyhow, figured I'd offer this out there for people to try. The goal is to eliminate blind spots while driving....

The main issue, for me, in looking back and to the left, is in most cases I am about to pass someone. In that split second that I turn my head, if the car in front of me slows down, or God forbids stops, then a collision is imminent.
It actually is good to get this out into a discussion and hear everybody's take on the subject. I appreciate all of your inputs

If you happen to have memory settings, adjust the side mirrors down so that the car and curb are visible, and assign that to setting #3 (presumably unused). When I have to parallel park or have curb concerns, I just quickly hit #3, get a good downward view, and stay comfortably away from wheel damage! A second of time to press #1, and all is aimed back to normal!

You are fortunate. That feature has not been offered consistently, so I have to do some of it manually, but having the setting in memory helps.

Oh wow..I didn't realize this was such a commodity. Doesn't make much sense to put the feature in some C class cars, while not in others.
My Escalade has it, pretty sure my 11 Range Rover Autobiography Sport has it, not sure if the X5 has it or not, never really paid attention. Just didn't think this was such a rare feature. But I've got to say it's very handy at times though, especially parallel parking by the curbs.

I agree. It is a good article. I am still mesmerized by all the replies. There just cannot be a solution that will please or help everybody.
Before I left the house this morning, I adjusted my mirrors as this article suggested. I don't know how I feel about it. My instinct is to always take a quick glance over my left shoulder to make sure there is no traffic in my blind spot.
One thing for sure to me, I will not affix a Convex mirror to my Benz...anywhere.
