If anyone is interested- I have posted my OEM Michelin Pilot MXM4 225/40R17 tires on ebay. The tires are in great condition with 60% Tread remaining. If any forum members are interested- please PM me and we can negotiate a deal on Price/Shipping.

I think Tirerack has it wrong on these tires for whatever reason.
With that said, I wouldn't buy the original ones mounted on the car as the rubber is formulated to be harder to give you better gas milage figures which helps MB with their fleet milage figures. That may be what Tirerack is testing. The replacement tires by the same model number is quieter and rides a bit softer.

By same model #, is that compared to the non-MB version that is almost exactly the same, but 25" OD vs 24.8" OD for the MB version?

kevin,
All I can tell you is that I kept the same model tires and they road better and quieter. When I brought this up on this forum, I was told that a different compound is used even though they are the same model tire.
I don't know anything about a different in outside diameter.
