I just retrofitted the command Nav 7" screen on to my class,
and I have European maps installed...
What is the fastest way to install the North America maps..

I read once somewhere that you can download it for free?

any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure if you can just download the maps since MB makes you pay for them here in the states and load a disc into our systems. You may have to either buy the disk or join a GB in order to get them. If anyone else knows different please let me know.

Not that easy. If you have euro-spec COMAND then it will not recognize a US map update. You will probably need to wipe clean the firmware and get a US-spec firmware installed first, then US Nav.

either get in on a group buy on the other benz site, or buy it online, or ebay, etc....once you have the disc then simply insert it and let it install....

If you truly have a euro-COMAND it will not recognize the US map update. Totally different software. There are people who have switched their US cars to euro spec and it's not a simple DVD insert.

i have a euro comand and it did recognize the US map update and it was a simple DVD insert....

DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT "FOR FREE". So 3 weeks ago i download it and burned it into a double layer dvd. everything looked great, no errors no nothing. Then i turn my car on and insert the dvd into slot one. then at 4% install it crashed. At this point there was no longer a NAV SYSTEM, no maps. just this

moral of the story is, I ended up buying the NavTeq DVD in order to fix this ****.

i would agree with killa, joining a group buy will save you over 200.00 though...

Can I get a copy from the group buy? Or would I have to wait till everyone ships to the next person...
