Entering Car Show June 16th - Need Help

I'm entering my car in the B96 Car Show in Chicago. It's my first show I got selected for and I have no idea what I will need to kinda display the car especially since I won't really be around as I have a football game to play in that same day.

My plan is to drop my car during roll-in hours and pick my car up after. Any tips I things I should have to help present the car?

Perfect paint, no swirlies, no dings, scratches, etc... Use pure silicone spray (by 3M only) on all rubber trim, harnesses (inside doors, etc) and grommets, wipe clean... engine must be made to look as if you can eat off it, remove all wheels and make all wells look perfecto, use 3M silicone on suspension components... look here for more... there are literally thousands of web sites... http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...y-4-a-Car-Show But you should be there to answer any questions.... that's a FAIL right there.

A good buff and wax/and or sealant would be ideal especially since you have a black car.

OR, make a chick stand in front of the car and no one will notice it anyway.

I was thinking about having two models answer the questions while I'm gone. Do you think my car will be safe if I am not there? Do I need to set up like a rope around the car or something? Do I need a placard with the mods?

models always help your car get coverage. But i wouldn't expect them to be able to answer questions about it. Your car will be safe but stanchions with rope will help keep people from touching your car. Once in awhile you might even get someone that will open your door and sit in your car. It happened at the last show we did this past weekend...

Some type of display that explains all your mods is cool, but thats just for the benefit of the people looking. If your getting judged its best to be there so you can talk to the judges and tell them everything you've done. You should be getting a scoring sheet where you list out all your mods, but its always better to be able to talk to them and explain everything...

Remember everything counts for judging, get it as clean as possible. Inside and out....

In my past are two '56 Beetles and two Karmann-Ghias, one a convertible.

Even with 36hp, they were fun. And almost nothing to fail.

My father in law spent the last 3 years restored a 62 Beetle that he bought new 50 years ago. It was very rough and now looks better than new. He wants to take it to the Blueberry festival in Brewton, AL in a couple of weeks. He's got a serious health problem and is on oxygen now so I'll probably be the one guarding the car. Thanks for posting as it gives me some idea on what to expect.
