Chirping sound
Hey guys,
My 2008 C300 sat for a couple weeks while I was on vacation and now it is making a strange sound that is coming from the motor. It kind of sounds like a chirp, it happens when I am driving and while it is idling.
Here is the weird part though, it only does it after about 5 minutes of running and it will go away after 10 minutes or so.
It is driving me nuts and I need to figure out what is doing it.
Any ideas?
Thanks

the belt is common for this type of noise after sitting for a while. i have corrected it many times by using some needle nose pliers and very lightly touching some sand paper to the belt while its running. ( Be careful, dont need to go overboard just gently against the belt for 2-3 seconds should do it, if thats what your problem is. Otherwise it could be the idler pulley next to the water pump.

I will give it a try tonight.

As was mentioned, it definitely sounds like a belt/pulley issue. But before I'd apply any lubricant or 'sand' a belt, I'd just let it go for a few hundred miles and see if it goes away naturally...I'm thinking it most likely will.
