sunroof issue (out of warranty)

sunroof issue (out of warranty)
my sunroof stutters. i took it to the dealer when it was under warranty was fixed in 5 mins. now, i'm out of warranty... am i SOL? do the dealers do the work for free or do they charge?
or is there a DIY?
i searched on the forum for a bit.. but mostly said take it to the dealer. or resync according to the manual. but resync does not work.
i guess i can call the dealer tomorrow to find out but any insight on this topic will be greatly appreciated.
for i'm sure lots of people are on the same boat with this issue.

Agree except the wd40 part - I will try to find the literature on this, but I read somewhere that MB recommends a more specific grease for the tracks...worth the few extra bucks to do it right.
