W204 C-class: Your experience
W204 C-class: Your experience
As a new owner of a C-class, I'd love to here the experiences of veteran owners, both happy and sad.
What you like about the car, what you hate about the car, and do you have any cool stories/bad experiences with your car?
Also, what Mechanical problems did you have with your car? Has it been reliable for you?
How long do you plan on keeping your C class?
Why did you chose to buy a C class?
Thx

2008 C350-Sport-AMG-Active Agility Pack(Not reliable) +Izuzu KB6 3L(It seems Reliable)+Mazda
The W204, disappointed
I bought a C & B-Class, mainly because of shape and body strenght. BMW & Audi fall apart in accident scenes.I saw a MERC C and a BMW strike each other at around 12OKm/h head on. All occupants in both cars died, but the MERC was intact, the BMW into pieces.
Should I have not bought German, probably was a mistake, will see.
The C350:Assemled in South Africa
I have 2008 C350 W204. It dropped me stone dead in a parking lot the other day at 72000Km, just after I was thinking how nice it is going. Never in my life a car of myne left me stranded.
EIS=No warning, no indication, no nothing.(Two weeks to repair)
The body=Solid
The mechanics, engine, gearbox etc=Probably good
The electronics=The weak link.A real pity.
The suspention:
Does not take a bad gravel road well at all, all over the place, they confirm shocks suspention are 100%.
The wheels=This car never completed a set of front tures satisfactorarly.
The 1st pair wears off on the inside with wires sticking out, while 3/4 rubber left on the outsides, this was a disappointment for 1st 20 000Km.
Bushes replaced on a new car ?
I was planning on keeping it because of the shape, but will have to reconsider this brand.
Everybody tells me how beautifull this car is, it looks different than other W204s around me.
I still like the car, but its a bitter/sweet experience.
The B170:Made in Germany
To my surprise no problem whatsoever.
So far the B-Class(2008) is more reliable than the C-Class(2008) from my perspective.

Engine Knock at Cold Start
Some of the C Class Engines knock at cold start and after a 2-hour cool down. Lots of owners have complained about it and explanations are vague. Dealers say it's nothing to worry about but problem is that ALL of them do not do it. I had my dealership start several cars identical to mine & none of them knocked. My concern is my car only has 15K miles. What's coming down the road. My warranty is just now about to expire and I don't feel like having my arm twisted to extend it (3 to 4K). Love the performance of my 08 Luxury version and it is my 2nd Benz, but I won't buy another after MB's handling of the issue. You asked.
