Help! Water leak on driver side.

After recent heavy rains I have noticed the Driver side floor has standing water. The leak seems to be coming from under the dash near left side close to the door. Any help would be appreciated.

Raise the bonnet/hood & check all water drains for leaves & blockage around the windscreen wiper, air inlet area.

Same water drains can also be blocked by mud at drain outlet in wheel-well area.

Pour a cup of water on various places on windshield, wiper, front area,... you should be able to catch a cup of water at the bottom via the drain holes,... otherwise you have blockage.

Important to get ensure proper drainage,... water could back up and flood area where front SAM is in fuse box (under hood at firewall on driver side),.... that's very expensive to fix.

Hey, I have the same problem (actually the link Domm posted is my thread). Mine is leaking from the sunroof area (that's what my SA told me) you need to take it in right away, there are wires going through under the floor mat, and supposedly some sensors around the area. Hopefully you are under warranty and everything will be taken care of, wasn't the case for me since I am out of warranty and have to pay out of pocket. By the way I thought the leak was around the door area, but it's not. They told me there is a drain pipe from the sunroof area that goes down the pillar and dumps it out at the bottom.

Correct jaeguyoon. I had the same issue in my previous W202. After a while dirt builds up in the drain holes (sun-roof) and doesn't allow the water to flow away and then overflows into the foot well. Had it service department took into it and no problems after that.

Makes sense. If you have a sunroof check the drains for that too.

We have a W204 without a sunroof that is wetting the carpet on the diver's side and all drains are clear, fuse/relay box cover is secure and water collector/shield is in place over master cylinder. Hmmmmm....

All Mercedes Benz model come with low quality seam sealer that cause leaks through all spot welded parts: roof, rear body upper panel to mention a few. These leaks cause major repairs such as having to replace. sam modules, ISM transmission module & tail gate motor to mention a few.
Stay away from buying Mercedes Benz unless it is a classic Benz. They are built extremely poorly.
I will dump my GL450 for next to nothing after spending over $12,000.00 in this vehicle.

Well that came out of nowhere. Sound like a knee jerk from a recent bad experience? Want to share that?

Is something like this covered by insurance?

I had a 2008 Infiniti G35x with a very similar problem after a hard rain. I lifted the carpet and water was pooled in the floorboard. My insurance company (USAA) totaled the car as flood damaged without further discussion. Their position is water damage like that can never be repaired since it's likely water has wicked its way inside wiring and will eventually corrode, creating never-ending phantom problems.

Your insurance company may not have the same view.
