quick tire question
So the oem tires i have is fr 225/40/18 and rear is 225/35/18 so im planning to get some winter tires and the person that im going to get it from has them in 235 40r18 91r. So my question is it going to fit since all 4 tires are the same? and will it affect the car in anyway? Or should i just go with a different size tires and what would it be? Thanks

Not sure about fitments, but our rims are staggered. Knowing that, I don't think they can have the same size tires on all 4 rims.
Someone else has to help you with winter tires You can ask MBRedux about winter tire recommendations and expertise regarding the topic since he is an avid skier.

Pick up a set of 17 rims and put a set of 17 snows , cheaper and better traction. If you get staggered rims you can get a single tire size that will fit. I put staggered snows. On 18's the tread is so short on the snows , I would debate their value. Enjoy

For tire size to wheel compatibility, check the calculator at 1010tires.com. As for winter tires, you should only get 17" if 16" don't fit with your brake calipers. For winter tires, narrower is the the rule to take the constant vehicle weight and put it on a smaller contact patch, causing the tires to better cut through the snow.

ok i dont mind getting 17 rims but since my oem rims are staggered, can i just slap on 17s without it damaging anything ?
sportstick: i when to 1010tires.com and put these tires 225/55/17 and the Diameter Difference is 6.21%. they want us to stay within the 3% area. So what side tires do i go with?
sorry, very new to this tires thing.

However, I would suggest considering 215/50-17 for a narrower tire for all 4 corners. This would mount on a 7" or 7.5" rim. The narrower tires will provide better winter performance and WS70 are available in this size. This results in a 1.5% variance so an actual 60 mph would read as 59.1, still easily manageable.

Where did the 225/55/17 size come from? If you want to run 17" rims, you should be using 225/45/17 tires with them, alternatively 215/50/17, although it's not an MB officially approved size.

For 17", you can use the OE 17" front size on all four corners. If you order Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 from tirerack.com, they will arrive mounted, balanced, with TPMS installed. The tires would be 225/45R17 if you take that approach with a 0.4% variance. An actual 60mph would read as 60.2mph - negligible!
However, I would suggest considering 215/50-17 for a narrower tire for all 4 corners. This would mount on a 7" or 7.5" rim. The narrower tires will provide better winter performance and WS70 are available in this size. This results in a 1.5% variance so an actual 60 mph would read as 59.1, still easily manageable.

i was just searching on some used tires, so those were the tires size that came up.
